DeepSeek has just released DeepSeek-OCR, a state-of-the-art OCR model with 3B parameters.
Core idea: explore long-context compression via 2D optical mapping.
Architecture:
- DeepEncoder → compresses high-res inputs into few vision tokens;
- DeepSeek3B-MoE-A570M → decodes with high precision
The results are astonishing
- <10× compression → 97% OCR accuracy
- 20× compression → ~60% accuracy
- Beats GOT-OCR2.0 (256→100 tokens/page) & MinerU2.0 (6000→<800 tokens)
- Throughput: 200K+ pages/day on a single A100 (40G).
