Hey, wouldya look at that! Great coverage from @CadenShea32, and a local team clinching a state spot is always a fun thing to cover. I probably shouldn't root for any one team, but under my breath, I'll say "Go Lions!"
DOME. BOUND. Clear Lake tops Mount Vernon 36-0 and advances to the state semifinals. #iahsfb @ClearLakeFB

These things have always been so dorky. Cost more than my salary but come on.. 😂
Elon Musk called it Tesla’s “best product ever.” After 3 years and 73,000 sold, it’s the end of the Cybertruck. 🔗 on.wsj.com/4zzgoMH

I'm hearing reports of the situation at the post office in Des Moines. DMPD has indicated that there were no life-threatening injuries. My thoughts are with the Iowans affected by this senseless act of violence. I will continue to monitor the situation & am thankful for the dedicated first responders who were able to respond quickly & ultimately save lives. desmoinesregister.com/story/…

Dear God, my feed opened to "for you" instead of "following," and now I have to go wash my soul with bleach.

All stories are filed and I'm calling it a night. Big thanks to sibling papers Sioux City Journal and Quad-City Times and partner publications The Register and The Gazette for shared state coverage. What a team! Now, it's time to hit my pillow. 💤

Still waiting on a couple of stories to move before I can get to work on the paper. Our local stories are filed, and I have to just shout out my pride to our newsroom for all the hard work they put in today. It was a long, busy day for them, and they knocked it out of the park.

We can say that Dem. Jacob Welper will take the seat away from incumbent Dist. 59 Rep. Christian Hermanson. Dem. Lindsay James looks to have picked up Hinson's Dist. 2 U.S. House seat, beating Clear Lake's Joe Mitchell. Interestingly, Mitchell was a no-show to his watch party.

Republican Dani Ollenburg of Clear Lake will win Dist. 60 Iowa House. She beats out Dem. Alex Schmidt of Carpenter.

Mary Pieper is reporting the mood is high at the Dem watch party in Mason City. Robin, who was at Republican Joe Mitchell's watch party, said the crowd is thinning and Mitchell never showed. She's headed home to write!

Looks like the Iowa Secretary of State election results page is down? I've not seen this message before. Anyone else in Iowa getting this?

We all took a little break to eat and recharge, but we're back to work at 8 p.m. Reporters Mary Pieper and Robin McClelland will be at Dem and GOP watch parties, respectively. I've still got probably four hours left, but hopefully my reporters can hit the hay earlier than that.

I'm working remotely tonight, but it still counts as newsroom pizza in my book! 🍕

Second coffee of the day. I've been sick and slept like garbage last night, so I'm staying good and fueled up for this extremely long workday.
