I wrote this in March and MAGA evangelicals treated it like heresy. Yet it's exactly what I heard time and again in Texas, from Texas Christians. nytimes.com/2026/03/08/opini…
"Talarico is one of the few openly Christian politicians in the United States who acts like a Christian, and by acting like a Christian, he reveals a profound contrast with so many members of the MAGA Christian movement that’s dominated American political life for 10 years."
Mothers Against Greg Abbott has DONE it! We have defeated Greg Abbott! 💙💙 Governor Hinojosa has a nice ring to it!

Credit where credit is due — Christie absolutely unloading on JD standing behind what Vivek did. This feels cathartic.

I'm telling you, the fucking Taliban fell in Texas. The PTSD is real, and we are all in shock. This is bigger than winning the Super Bowl.
To know that Gov Abbott, with all of his horrendously cruel actions and rherotic, will no longer be able to wield that kind of wickedness and call it being a Christian, is my biggest relief of this election. The fact that the GOP for so long tried to conflate righteousness with being cruel to the poor and shaming the poor was something that literally broke my heart. I am grateful to God we will be losing a lot of leaders who falsely claim they follow Christ and then, as scripture talks about, did not have LOVE.
IF I speak with the tongues of men, and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

James Talarico, a Democrat, is quoting Scripture in his victory speech, and the crowd is cheering.
Democrats don’t hate religion. We hate watching people weaponize it.
Faith isn't the problem. Using God as a weapon against your neighbors is.

God never gives up on anyone. Like the shepherd seeking his lost sheep, He searches for us with infinite love. Every return to Him brings joy to heaven.

I feel like I’ve been holding my breath for two years, wondering if the America I believed in was a mirage.
IT WAS NOT!!! It was not.

Love this message, @jamestalarico 🙏
.@JamesTalarico: We didn’t win by alienating our neighbors, or by shaming our neighbors, or by ridiculing our neighbors. We embodied a new kind of politics. A politics rooted in a deep love — for our state, for our country, and for all of our neighbors.
My faith teaches me that love is the strongest force in the universe.
Love is not passive. Love is not neutral. Love is not weak. Love requires that we stand between the bullies and the bullied. Love requires that we look evil in the eye and not blink.
Love can heal what’s broken in America.
