Until 2020 I was mainly a exemplary citizen, following the rules, doing what the government and my employer wanted, and not questioning authority (much). The coronapanic changed everything. The massive government overreach, the corruption, the dishonesty, the realisation that not only did the authorities not care about me and my family - they were actively trying to shorten and worsen our lives to further their own objectives - turned me into a serial non-complier. This took numerous forms, big and small. Withholding tax for a while. Ignoring Test and Trace. Signing in to venues under false names. Spending far more time outside than our allotted 1 hour per day. Ignoring one way and queueing systems. Pretending to scan QR codes at entrances. Going everywhere without a mask. Being the only unmasked person at my mother's funeral. Not testing for COVID. Not using bloody hand gel. Not watching mainstream media. Cancelling my TV licence. Not getting any vaccines. Campaigning online. Writing relentlessly to my MP, other MPs and the government. Disengaging from the NHS. Joining campaigning organisations like Together. Helping those resisting the government. Reading and researching endlessly, trying to wake others up to what was going on. Constantly testing the boundaries instead of just following the rules. Believe nothing. Question everything. As I said yesterday regarding my council tax protests, this is hardly the Jarrow Marches or the Poll Tax riots, and one person doing this isn't going to change the world but, when government turns thousands of ordinary citizens like me - who would really rather be spending their lives digging the garden, watching cricket and spending time with their families - into dogged activists against them, their time is running out, their legitimacy is going, their ability to govern by consent is vanishing.
