Finally, the circle closes: the last chapter of my PhD thesis is out! Proud to share our findings: royalsocietypublishing.org/d…
@CleliaGasparini
Below, a little thread 🧵
In this study, we reveal the association, in magnitude and direction, between the effects of FRF on sperm and the paternity share among males, demonstrating that the FRF can even overturn intrinsic sperm performance.
New paper out in Biology Letters @RSocPublishing. I couldn't be more proud of being part of this all-female team shedding light on female mechanisms of fertilization control. Check it out here 👇

What are the factors influencing the evolution of #sperm length? We investigated sperm length evolution in relation to body mass across #tetrapods by applying a novel statistical framework: Pareto Optimality. (1/5) biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…. @KocillariLoren @PilastroAndrea

Fantastic to finally see this out, the symposium is a true gem (and not just because it includes our paper! @CleliaGasparini @fedepolipoli)
Please retweet: Excited to announce that a fantastic collection of ASN VP SYMPOSIUM papers on "The Power of Sexual Selection" led by early career researchers is now available. Check them out, read them, cite them and hire these people! journals.uchicago.edu/toc/an…
A fantastic must-read by a stellar researcher ✨
🐟🥚🚨Let’s get physical…
Gamete-level sexual selection is usually achieved by modifying #sperm behavior with mechanisms altering the chemical environment in which #gametes perform, but what if this was not all the story…?

Check out this wonderful postdoc opportunity ✨
Finally the very first paper of my PhD is available online at @ASNAmNat! With @CleliaGasparini, @fedepolipoli, A Grapputo & MB Rasotto we show how female reproductive fluid increases the opportunities for post-mating sexual selection. Sneak a peek here: journals.uchicago.edu/doi/ep…

Using the Zebrafish we first tested the prediction that female reproductive fluid (FRF) prolongs the egg fertilization window (spoiler: it does!)
