Something to note: Elon Musk just became the biggest political donor in modern US history, pouring $446 million into Trump’s Republicans, and voters said no. Candidates who ran on taxing the 1% and public healthcare won big, including in places billionaires thought they’d bought.

Michigan, we did what they said couldn’t be done. We won. Together. Now the real work begins.

'We helped organise a public inquiry that found AUKUS is “the worst, most costly and riskiest defence decision ever made by Australian governments.”
But we didn't have the power to compel documents, sworn testimony or answers from the politicians who struck this deal in secret. Only a Royal Commission can truly expose AUKUS out into the open where it’s politically untenable for the government to ignore.
✍️Sign the petition for a Royal Commission into AUKUS now.
The AUKUS security pact is supposed to make us safe. But we're forking out $368 billion to hand control over to Trump's America. We're not guaranteed a single submarine. Our communities will host America's weapons-grade waste. And we'll become a first strike target in a US/China war.
We can still get out of AUKUS. But we need to act now before it's too late.
A Royal Commission can bring the pitfalls of this disastrous deal to light.
Because Australians deserve answers and a future beyond AUKUS where we call our own shots, not take orders from Washington.'

"My name is Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed, and I am so proud and honored to stand here as your Senator-elect from the great state of Michigan. Up until right about now, you might have noticed I always say 'Inshallah' or 'God willing' whenever the outcome of this race was mentioned. But today, tonight, we can turn that 'Inshallah' into a 'Alhamdulillah!'"

Oh and Treasurer @JEChalmers and @SenKatyG .. as you search for more savings, please think about axing AUKUS. $368B+ over 20 years is a direct export of Australian taxpayer dollars to submarine shipyards in the US and UK. Charity (and defence) begins at home. Please announce a review of our runaway defence expenditure.

The most exciting results in America are coming from candidates with a genuinely ambitious vision, who refused to water down their plans and trusted voters with big ideas on housing, healthcare and wages. These are times to be bold and go hard.

Trump will REMAIN President, but what he CAN'T do now:
1. *Can't pass any law:*
Needs Parliament. With Democrats at 90, all his bills will be blocked.
2. *Can't get money:*
Parliament controls the budget. No funding for his MAGA projects, Wall etc.
3. *Faces Impeachment Risk:* Democrats can start investigations and even move impeachment.
4. *Can't appoint Judges/Officials freely:* Senate will block his picks.
5. *Can't do big foreign deals:*
Trade deals, war funding needs Parliament nod.
In short: He will stay in the White House, sign Executive Orders, but Parliament and Courts can overturn them.
He becomes a *Lame Duck President* - President in name, powerless in reality.

Democrats had a great win tonight. Now they have to give the American people the "wins" we deserve. End the Iran war. No $ for Israel. Abolish ICE. Medicare for all. Cut the Pentagon $ and invest it in THE PEOPLE.

This is absolute bullshit. A sleight of hand to try to get rid of Congressional oversight and satisfy public opinion while quite possibly giving Israel EVEN MORE MONEY:
1) Israel’s aid runs under a 2016 memorandum signed by Obama. It commits $38 billion from 2019 through 2028, about $3.8 billion a year. Trump is announcing an end almost two years early and hasn’t said how.
2) Presidents don’t control this money. Congress appropriates it every year and wrote the amounts into law in the 2021 defense bill. An agreement between Trump and Netanyahu can’t cancel money Congress has already voted through.
3) Josh Paul ran arms transfers at the State Department. He called a January cutoff “not plausible,” since the funding is built into current and pending legislation. His guess is that Trump was talking about the next ten-year deal, which starts in 2029.
4) Fox asked whether he meant cash, weapons or missile defense. “I’m giving four in any way you want to define it,” Trump said. The White House has put out no plan and no clarification since.
5) Israel’s own officials heard about it from the TV. A senior defense official told Kan they “did not expect this announcement, certainly not today.” Finance Ministry staff said nothing in writing had come from Netanyahu’s office, and next year’s budget already counts on the money.
6) 60 Israel’s procurement plans count on more than $20 billion in US military financing for the decade after 2028. Nobody budgets like that if they expect the money to stop in December.
7) He told Fox why he was doing it. “Why should we suffer the slings from lunatics like an El-Sayed when they don’t need it?” He said it on the morning of the midterms. El-Sayed was up six points in Michigan’s Senate race, and 55% of Michigan voters oppose military aid to Israel. Trump called the aid a “bad talking point.”
8) While Trump talks about ending aid, Congress is building a new channel for it. The 2027 defense bill sets up a US-Israel defense technology program run through the Pentagon, covering joint development and co-production of drones, missile defense and AI.
9) Annelle Sheline, a former State Department official, says that money would escape the Leahy laws, the transparency rules and the annual vote in Congress, and would probably grow.
10) Israel can still buy anything it wants from the US. Trump said so himself, and he added that America will help “if they need it.” The bombs keep shipping, and the bombs are what most opponents of aid object to.
The 2028 memorandum is still in force, Congress still holds the purse, and the Pentagon money is being set up out of view. What Trump actually cut on election day was a line that was costing Republicans votes in Michigan. This is a bunch of crap. Aid to Israel has to be stopped for real.
President Trump says the US is cutting off $4 billion in aid to Israel at the end of the year because "they don't need it."
