One photo shows a single, solitary ancient sycamore tree destroyed in an act of eco vandalism that has rightly caused outrage.
The other photo shows one of 108 ancient, native woodlands destroyed to make way for HS2.
Can we get as angry about this too?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
HS2 has impacted 15% of 25 ancient woodlands, not destroyed 108. There are approximately 53,000 ancient woodlands sites in England; any major infrastructure project is going to impact some of them.

Everyone is right to be angry about this tree being destroyed. But can we also start getting as irate about the HS2 development that’s set to destroy 108 ancient woodlands.
My best friend’s cousin has been missing for two days. Last seen in the Stockport / Manchester area.
If you’re from those parts (and beyond!) it would be hugely appreciated if you could share and help get the word out.
