Temps are starting to take a bit of a tumble. The coolest night ahead looks to be Friday Night where many make a run at the freezing mark. Some, it'll mark the first time of the season at the freezing point.

Freezing temperatures possible Friday night. For some communities, including Des Moines, it's potentially the first freeze of the year (a late one at that) #IAWX

Des Moines has passed 50" of rain/snow melt equivalent for 2026. Just a staggering amount of moisture. The average year sees about 36". A Top 3 finish is possible. But that top spot, a 145 year old record, 56.81" will be a hard one to catch. #IAWX #DSM

Not often you get a rainbow in the northern sky! Sunshine peering through in Knoxville, doing just that! Fresh off a downpour, that rainbow is shining bright looking to the north. #IAWX #Iowa

Rain chances are still in the works for trick-or-treating on Beggars' Night and #Halloween, but they aren't looking near as soaking as previously thought. On the lighter side and scattered on Friday evening. Saturday evening looks to be even quieter across Iowa. #DSM #DesMoines

Quite a difference expected from now til one week from now. A big cold punch of air is waiting behind a slow moving system. We'll go from mild to chilly in just a couple days. #IAWX #MWNX

A beauty of a sunrise this morning over central Iowa as a few weakening showers rolled in. You can see a couple rain shafts towards the end of this video. Great color to start the day! #IAWX #DSM #Sunrise

Still a few communities across the southern part of Iowa waiting on their first freeze of the season. But is it actually late? Signs point to no. We've run well into November without a freeze before.
