In schools like this one, White British pupils are now a clear minority (~22–26%), with Pakistani children making up around half the roll. Similar patterns show up in parts of Batley.​ These were traditional English mill towns. Post-war immigration from Pakistan and India, higher birth rates, and residential concentration produced a fast shift: by the late 1980s some local schools were already 80–90% Asian, prompting white parents to withdraw children. Today, in Dewsbury West and comparable pockets, English kids are the minority in many primary classrooms.​ The photos make the speed and scale of the change visible.
