I do love the British sense of humour 😂 They're obviously not worried about a cold either 🤣

So glad Yale is doing this in LongCOVID, but we need every neurology dept. to have this level of interest & offer this level of care in other post-viral small fiber neuropathies too, like POTS. Letting patients suffer for years when we have effective therapies is wrong. 3/3

Many POTS patients have post-viral onset and small fiber neuropathies, but they are rarely offered steroids or immune therapies. Why is it acceptable to treat #LongCOVID this way, but not the millions of other patients living with other post-viral small fiber neuropathies? 2/3

Update from Yale's COVID-19 Neurology Clinic during #AAN2021 - some #LongCOVID patients are presenting with small fiber neuropathies & heart rate abnormalities, "many of these are resolving after we are treating them with steroids or other autoimmune treatments." 1/3

So everything the #MECFS community warned us about is coming true. Infiltration of #PACE trialists across responses to #LongCOVID without apology or transparency. Changing language to pull the wool over our eyes and further their agenda. And without checking, orgs are complicit.

A tale of stop & search and how reality and perception often differ. A thread... A while ago when I was the new sergeant we got a call to a shooting on one of the estates. The team rushed to the scene and discovered a young lad with a gunshot wound. We don’t have extensive first

This is not the way to do it but I have to say, I am amused by Nancy Klimas, Eva Feldman, and Tony Komaroff essentially arguing over whether #longCOVID patients have #MECFS or #dysautonomia (see: 50:34 videocast.nih.gov/watch=3888…).

Docs: We now know that post-viral illness like Long Covid is very serious. #MECFS patients: We've been trying to tell you that for decades. Docs: What's ME/CFS? #pwME #MyalgicE #MedEd #MedTwitter

Just had a new patient with post-#COVID #Dysautonomia whose doc started SSRI and benzo for "anxiety." Getting a tilt table test to confirm #POTS in this previously healthy guy who now has tachycardia and exercise intolerance. Colleagues, please don't put these pts on psych meds!

I am *really* looking forward to @NICEComms coming out with similar advice for #MECFS. An apology to all those who were prescribed GET and got worse, some for the entire rest of their lives, would also be nice.

#LongCovid #covid1in20 the #mecfs community needs your help! For decades, ME patients have been left permanently disabled (wheelchairs, bedridden) by grades exercise therapy. Fir decades we gave reported these harms and asked for the treatment to be removed 1/

Surely it’s time for experts in ME to come to the fore, explain their research and what living with chronic post viral complications is.That’s what is clearly being described here. And hundreds of thousands have been living like it for years. #meawareness apple.news/AxGg1Vj2kQ8SHmW0O…

I have to be honest, it's only because I've got #LongCOVID that I only now get the whole fatigue thing. I felt sympathy for #CFSME pts, now I have empathy. Never realised how much just even using your brain could wipe you out. 1/2

With a growing number of #LongCovid patients reporting that GPs are attributing symptoms to anxiety/depression, or disbelieving them all together, we are witnessing just how harmful the encroachment of the biopsychosocial model of health into standard medical practice has become.

PACE has been discredited, NICE are reviewing ME/CFS guidelines, neither of these points are newsworthy. When COVID patients are not recovering and CF Clinics claim that with CBT/GET treatments recovery is typically 6-12 months, that’s news headlines.
