I thought that was incredibly impressive. QPR are clearly a good team with skilful players, and we were just far too strong for them. Our mentality off the ball, and quality on the ball, deservedly put us at the top end of this table. We are a serious outfit #BCFC

When the Guardian went on strike to protest the Observer sale, I became a de facto spokesperson. Later a Tortoise employee I’d never met wrote to me to cancel my 20-year contract. No goodbye & no pay-off. This is how they now take credit for my work..but write me out of the story

Prime Minister Burnham spoke with President Zelenskyy, reiterating his complete solidarity with Ukraine, and underlining Russia should agree to an energy ceasefire.
The two leaders agreed to meet in person in the coming days to continue the discussion⬇️

Significant voices raised calling for US Deal with Putin to be blocked.
Ronald Reagan Peace Through Strength Act is to be launched in Congress by two Republican Congressmen.
A third senior Republican says "lifting of sanctions on Russian oil will only fund the Kremlin’s war machine"
Writing in @thehill – @mirabhakta says GOP lawmakers reject US-Russia diesel deal, Trump’s Zelensky comments… Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick @RepBrianFitz (R-Pa.) unveiled a bipartisan bill on Saturday that he says would block the lifting of sanctions, called the Ronald Reagan Peace Through Strength Act. Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.)@RepDonBacon already signed on as a co-sponsor. See: xitter.cf/RepBrianFitz/status/21…
Cong.Fitzpatrick says Ukrainian President Zelensky @ZelenskyyUa "has the overwhelming support of the United States Congress, he has the overwhelming support of the American people, and he has the overwhelming support of the Ukrainian people."
Bhkta writes: "Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas),@RepMcCaul former Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, stated he was `concerned the lifting of sanctions on Russian oil will only fund the Kremlin’s war machine—emboldening more violence and destruction, as we have seen in recent days.’
"He added that Congress already passed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act which `gave the president significant authorities and leverage against China and Russia to bring Putin’s war to an end with a negotiated settlement.’
"In September, Trump signed the act, calling for the president to impose tariffs of up to 100 percent on the top five purchasers of Russian energy or on countries helping the Kremlin evade sanctions.
"Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) similarly expressed on social platform X that Trump `should be using those authorities instead of allowing Russia to export diesel, rake in revenues, and continue its catastrophic war in Ukraine.’ `We can discuss Russia’s return to global energy markets once the war is over, but in the meantime, we need to cut off everything fueling it,’ she said.”
As a young parliamentarian I was present to hear Ronald Reagan's brilliant speech to the @UKParliament.
Funding the Kremlin's war machine is the polar opposite of Reagan's unflinching opposition to dictatorship. Progress and peace was achieved through strength, consistency, formidable international alliances, and wisdom.
Globally, many Parliamentarians from diverse democratic jurisdictions, will be expressing support for their Congressional colleagues and expressing their backing for the Ronald Reagan Peace Through Strength Act.
Steffen Schwarzkopf:@S_Schwarzkopf writing in The Telegraph spells out the atrocities being committed by Putin in the Ukraine:
“`That leaves Putin with only one strategy: scorched earth. He cannot capture the Donetsk region, but he can destroy it. House by house, neighbourhood by neighbourhood.’ The Russians employed the same strategy in nearby Bakhmut, then under the command of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner Group. The city, once home to 80,000 people, was decimated before it fell in May 2023…Normal life in Kramatorsk has become impossible. Businesses have shut down, petrol stations have been destroyed and electricity and water supplies have been severely disrupted. Every trip to one of the few supermarkets still open, albeit barricaded, could be someone’s last. There is a constant buzz of Russian drones. Those residents who remain – nobody can say with any certainty how many there are, perhaps 25,000, perhaps 30,000 – know that every time they step outside, a Russian drone operator sitting in front of a screen a few miles away could decide whether they live or die. No house, no building, is safe anymore.”

Good call with @ZelenskyyUa today.
Fully supported the call of President Zelenskyy for a ceasefire that would protect global food supplies and energy infrastructure in Ukraine and Russia
The war has entered a new, grimmer phase.
Russia is stalling on the battlefield and striking civilians far behind the front lines.
I conveyed our solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
And my full support for President Zelenskyy as he leads the fight for his people’s freedom.
Ukraine will be front and centre at this week’s European Council.
We will discuss its funding needs for the year ahead and how to mobilise fresh global support.
This week, the EU will also provide further funding for drones and missiles.
To strengthen Ukraine’s defences and protect its skies.
We are also due to open two further clusters of chapters in the negotiations.
The momentum is real.

🚨 BREAKING: Trump’s Russia deal sparks a revolt inside his own party!
Republican hawks are furious, Laura Loomer is sounding the alarm, and Keith Kellogg is backing Ukraine’s strikes on Russian oil refineries.

"Donald Trump has no power to remove me from office. I believe many people in the United States still stand with Ukraine, and I will fight until the end, until the Ukrainian people, whom I love so deeply, finally see victory."

Russia has intensified its strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure over the weekend. This is an attack on Ukrainian civilians, plunging them into cold and darkness. The UK strongly supports President Trump's call today for a sustained energy ceasefire to start now. I discussed this with @zelenskyyUa yesterday: Ukraine is ready if Russia stops its attacks. This is the best route to get energy and fuel back into world markets.

I agree with LT GEN Kellogg. Ukraine should destroy Russia’s diesel production infrastructure. Totally destroy it. Our President should complain to Putin about Russia bombing Ukrainian cities… not complain to Ukraine who is the victim and who is defending itself.
Kellogg turns against Trump. Former US special envoy for Ukraine, retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, says Ukraine should continue striking Russian oil refineries. “This is war. They are attacking correctly,” he said, backing Kyiv’s continued campaign against Russian refining infrastructure. #Ukraine

Amid all this madness, I want to thank our British partners for a characteristically British response: calm, cool, and collected.
The UK stands with Ukraine. It will continue to do so. No easing of sanctions on russia - and a clear call for others to hold the line.
Thank you for showing what principled leadership looks like. 🇺🇦🇬🇧

I thought Iwata looked far calmer on the ball today, but BOS was my MOTM. He’s playing at a really high level IMO. His spatial awareness in tight situations and the way he uses his body are both absolutely top notch. He’s grabbed that RB slot with both hands #BCFC
