Pope Leo XIV has voted in the midterm elections of the United States, expressing his โbelief in the right and the duty of citizens to participate in democratic processes.โ
The Holy See Press Office announced on Friday that Pope Leo XIV, an American citizen, "has exercised his right to vote as a United States citizen, whenever he was eligible to do so."
The Press Office confirmed that, โin keeping with this long-standing practice of civic participation, he has submitted his mail-in ballot in Chicago.โ
โThe Holy Father has also confirmed that, during his years of residence in Peru he exercised his right to vote whenever he was eligible to do so,โ noted the statement.

Starting on October 29, the Vatican Museums will host the exhibition โA Century of the Popemobile,โ which brings together 8 historic cars that tell the story of papal transport throughout the decades.
The exhibit โ which was presented on October 28 โ also celebrates the relationship between Mercedes-Benz and the Holy See, which began in 1930 when the Mercedes-Benz Nรผrburg 460 was presented to Pope Pius XI.
The event features, among others, the 1930 Mercedes-Benz Nรผrburg 460 (W 08), the 1960 Mercedes-Benz 300 d Landaulet (W 189) built for John XXIII, the 1886 Benz Patent-Motorwagen, considered the first automobile in history, and the contemporary Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Speaking to participants of a meeting focused on the future of AI, Pope Leo XIV stressed that decisions relating to human life can never be given to machines.
"Decisions affecting human life, freedom and the use of force must always remain subject to effective, informed and responsible human oversight. For this reason, artificial intelligence must be 'disarmed', and I encourage the States meeting in Geneva in November to take concrete steps toward banning lethal autonomous weapons."

On Wednesday, Pope Leo XIV met with executives of Mercedes-Benz, who are in Rome for a special exhibition, โA Century of the Popemobile.โ
The Holy Father thanked the German automaker for its long-standing collaboration with the Holy See, beginning in 1930 when a Mercedes-Benz automobile was delivered to Pope Pius XI.
In his address, Pope Leo emphasized that the so-called โPopemobilesโ have evolved from simply a means of transportation to โan instrument of encounter,โ and thanked the executives for helping โfacilitate the Churchโs mission of reaching out to people and bringing a message of faith, of hope and of charity to the world.โ
