.@qivaliseu may well be the project that finally kickstarts the euro stablecoin market. While Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, continues to express persistent skepticism toward stablecoins, around 40 European banks are preparing to launch one together.

I hate this so much. The top Google result (an ad) leads to a well-made scam version of @safe. Given how often legitimate crypto projects get suspended from ad programs, fkn @Google still happily sells its top spot to scammers after all these years.

LOL. CME announced at 5pm Friday that it’s dropping plans for 24/7 oil trading over concerns about… staffing. Thought nobody would notice.

Extreme post, but this is the road that we are taking. Definitely.
I'm French 🇫🇷. I was born in Paris. I spent 25 years there. But now: I don't even want to know what happens in that hellhole 💀⚰️. Not “troubled.” Not “declining.” Not “going through a difficult period.” No. A HELLHOLE. A country where everything is dirty, expensive, hostile, bureaucratic and permanently dysfunctional. You pay absurd taxes for public services that increasingly behave as if providing a service were an unreasonable personal request. Paris is noise, aggression, filth, traffic, strikes, scaffolding, sirens, queues, broken infrastructure and the constant sensation that every basic task has been deliberately redesigned to waste your time. Nothing works without friction. Nothing happens without paperwork. Nothing can be fixed without a committee, a consultation, a union dispute, three administrative layers and somebody explaining why expecting normality is politically problematic. The state takes more, delivers less, and compensates for the difference with lectures. Every few weeks something burns, something stops running, somebody blocks something, somebody smashes something. France is sinking into barbarity. I spent 25 years there. That's enough.

Since the advent of Bitcoin in 2008, the crypto asset market has grown from a niche curiosity into a multi-trillion-dollar asset class to which investors actively seek exposure. Unfortunately, our rules and regulations have not kept pace. To that end, today’s proposal would provide a clear regulatory framework for the custody of crypto assets, giving investment advisers and funds a compliant pathway where none existed before—and replacing the grey of uncertainty created by custody rules crafted for a bygone era.
TODAY 🚨: The Commission proposed new rules and amendments to provide a tailored framework for the custody of crypto assets for registered investment advisers and regulated funds, i.e. registered investment companies and business development companies.

HOLY SHIT… it keeps going higher. You need to adapt to this high rate environment, because if you don't… …you'll get crushed.

In the future, your bank will have to ask you whether the money you deposit can be used as part of its fractional reserve system. And some banks will actually start sharing the yield with you more fairly than they do today
Fascinating. Chief Economist at Apollo: agents could cause a bank run by sweeping household cash into accounts paying 3-5% instead of the 0.1% national average, causing banks to lose a large share of their cheap deposits.

Sowas nennt man Finanzbildung. 🐴

We really are living more and more in a world without any bearings. Now, Americans are becoming Europeans. Crazy times.

Open source will win the market for strategic financial infrastructure. That is why we are open-sourcing the core of Prividium today. The German Central Bank 🇩🇪 is the first institution to deploy it independently in its own environment. Sovereignty begins with the freedom to leave Putting software in an institution’s own data center gives it physical custody, but that alone is not sovereignty. If the institution still depends on the vendor to maintain and evolve the system, it holds the hardware while the vendor controls the future. The real test is simple: can the institution keep operating after the relationship ends? Making the code public makes the right to leave real. A contract can promise continuity; public code lets the institution secure it for itself. The institution can replace the vendor without replacing the system. Institutions must control their own rules A permissioning engine determines who can enter a financial system and what each participant can do. These are the institution’s policies expressed in software. When the vendor controls that software, the institution depends on the vendor to enforce and change its own rules. Opening the Prividium permissioning engine places those rules under the institution’s control. It can inspect the logic, change it and run the complete core independently. Sovereignty now extends from the infrastructure to the policies that govern every participant inside it. Open infrastructure will win Open-weight AI is already winning deployments it loses on benchmarks. Some institutions prefer a model they can run and adapt to a more capable model available only through a supplier. Model rankings change every few months; the ability to operate independently survives the ranking. A closed financial platform can grow only as far as institutions are willing to accept its owner as a permanent dependency. Open source removes that ceiling. Institutions can adopt the same infrastructure without tying their continued operation to the same company. Institutions that would never agree on a vendor can still converge on an open standard, bringing more of the financial system onto ZKsync.

My very first reaction to Ethena Pay was skepticism. But after some research, I think it’s pretty smart and I really do wonder how this development impacts traditional banks and fintechs.

Building a tokenized securities venue is one thing. Connecting institutions to it is another. As @tZERO Chairman and CEO @Alan_Konevsky told @block_stories: If I’m a broker-dealer and I’m looking to get access to a tokenized public equities platform, I’m going to need someone to help me custody these shares on behalf of my customers and be a gateway to the platform. That’s where tZERO’s regulated infrastructure comes in as we all work to determine what it will take to connect broker-dealers, digital transfer agents and other institutions to tokenized public markets. ICE cannot tokenize markets alone because while it controls the exchange, matching engine, & some rules, progress still depends on coordination with depositories, issuers, brokers, & cash providers… DTC has begun tokenizing shares that already trade on NYSE, but cash settlement has not yet moved fully onchain. Thanks for the feature, @block_stories !
