Lou’s Army is back

I'm just gonna share a little story about Jake, because fuck it, it's as good a time as any to reminisce about what brought us together... ...Jake was arguing hockey here on Twitter...and it was def still Twitter back then...with a St. John's/Islanders fan who can identify himself if he so chooses. Said SJU/Islanders fan thought it would be funny to add this random Canadian guy to a chat full of #SJUBB fans talking CBB... ...Jake said "well fuck it, I'm going to become an SJU fan because fuck this guy." Mind you, this was nearly a decade ago now, the highs of the last 3 years of SJU fandom were unfathomable. There was no joy in being an SJU fan at that time (I believe mid-Mullin era, but correct me if I'm wrong). And yet, Jake became a fan. Stuck it out. And a year or 2 later he was flying from Alberta, Canada into Boston to see SJU play a tournament at Mohegan Sun. Over the last near-decade he's grown into a true and dear friend, and a true Johnnies fan. I even had the pleasure of meeting his wife on the couple of occasions she joined him on his almost annual trips to NYC to see the Johnnies. She was a fun and caring soul, and she was deeply invested in her community in Alberta. It's true that only the good die young. So please, do what you can, donate to the GoFundMe, help Jake, Rhys and Makara, and lets show the power of the #SJUBB and #BIGeast communities. gofund.me/9f51cf9e3
