Today I issued an Executive Order designating “Seminole Wind” by John Anderson as the official anthem of Florida.
I have also directed the @FLSecofState to erect historic markers in the City of Apopka depicting John Anderson’s contribution to Florida’s heritage.
In addition, I have tasked @FLDEPNews to work with the @SJRWMD to designate wildlife drive and trail system within Lake Apopka North Shore as the John Anderson Wildlife Drive and Trail System.

It’s a sad day in country music, especially for a native Floridian. Country Music Hall of Fame and Florida legend John Anderson has passed away. I grew up on his music. “Seminole Wind” remains the most iconic anthem about Florida ever written.
I have a fond memory of John. He was playing a show on Florida’s east coast near Apopka, where he grew up. Just before walking out from the side of the stage, he asked me, “Keep an eye on this young lady while I go do this thing.” She turned out to be his mother. She talked my ear off about John growing up, how Florida used to be, and developers ruining it. Above all, she was so proud of her son. This was more than 20 years after “Seminole Wind” nearly topped the Billboard charts, yet she was still that proud.
I’ve carried that with me and never told anyone. She and I chatted through his entire set. Eric Church was headlining, I was on stage, and it was awesome, but I’ll never forget John playing. Not long after, I committed to being a country music artist. John is a huge influence; I play “Seminole Wind” at nearly every show. Now it means even more. We won’t let Florida country music die, John. I hope my mom looks at me the same way when I play. Either way, I’ll make you both proud.
RIP to the legend, John Anderson.

Yet, Pete failed in keeping every promise made to his constituents and defrauded MMTLP investors seeking transparency.
