As polls begin to close, I want to thank the candidates across all 444 of Ontario’s municipalities for their willingness to step up and serve the public. Our government is ready to work with everyone who is elected tonight on the issues that matter most to Ontario families: making life more affordable, keeping communities safe, delivering high-quality public services and protecting workers from tariffs and economic uncertainty.

On behalf of the people of Ontario, I extend my sincere condolences to the family, loved ones and fellow service members of Toronto Police Service Constable Marc Pinizzotto, who was killed in the line of duty today. Today is a sobering reminder of the sacrifices and risks faced by police officers across Ontario every day as they work to keep our province safe.

Congratulations to Team Canada on one of the most hard-fought games of hockey we’ve ever seen. While the result wasn’t what we hoped for, you inspired a generation of young Canadians and made our country proud.

Happy New Year, Ontario! Wishing everyone across the province a safe, happy and prosperous 2026.
