I had a lucid dream last night. It tends to happen on nights where I wake up abruptly and struggle to get back to sleep. Any other lucid dreamers here? Anyone induce them on purpose?

A study on the "Empathy Theory of Dreaming" by @Mark_Blagrove and colleagues found that people who frequently share their dreams—and genuinely listen to others share theirs—display significantly higher levels of empathy. Who will you share your dreams with tomorrow morning?

APA Journals' Dreaming dives deep into lucid dreams—not just asking if they exist, but exploring the minds within them and how we can communicate across the dream/wake boundary. Read the introduction to the special online issue: bit.ly/3M6bZwA @DreamScholars

Waking up paralyzed and unable to speak? It's terrifying, but normal. It's REM sleep paralysis: the brain paralyzes the body during dreams. Reduce stress and get enough sleep to minimize episodes. #SleepParalysis #SleepTips

I had been having the same nightmare since early childhood, so in my early 20s, when I was at university, I started to look into lucid dreaming. I read up on it, needed a few weeks of training, and then one night I managed to change the dream sequence with a conscious decision. Problem solved.

Oh Lucid dreaming is so peak
Has anyone experienced being aware they are in a dream whilst asleep? In the dreams you remember you are asleep and this is a dream and fully aware of it.

Very innovative talk by Emma Peters @unibern at #IASD2025 conference @DreamScholars yesterday. Training people to spot that dreaming of the sleep lab can be a cue to lucid dreaming. And talk by Perrine Ruby @UnivLyon1 on state & trait influences on dream recall.

The DORAs have been associated with increased REM sleep, which may offer one parsimonious explanation.

I had a WILD this very morning, and while at first I was sure I was in a dream (as my arms had phased through the mattress and were hanging down almost vertically to the floor), I was fooled by my dreaming bedroom into thinking I was awake!

Ever tried a reality check in your dreams? 🤔 Look at a clock twice. In reality, time stays the same. In dreams, it changes or becomes nonsensical, like "36:17"! 🕰️ Dream narratives might resist, but keep checking! #LucidDreaming #SleepScience

Looks interesting. Though I find it disheartening that dream interpretation is so central to most dream enthusiasts. For me, dreams can offer us so much more if we respect their ineffability and otherness. Seeking to catalogue their contents distracts us from that opportunity.

I had a phase where I was learning a lot about controlling lucid dreams, but now I find I get more out of them if I approach them with curiosity.
