❌ Local gym keep your name and phone number ✅ Giant companies train AI on all your personal data Did I get it right? What's the point of GDPR again?
‼️ EU governments approved a GDPR change to let companies train AI on Europeans' personal data without consent. It makes AI training a possible "legitimate interest", judged case by case. Parliament must still agree. Max Schrems calls it a "digital expropriation" of Europeans.

Maybe we do need to teach consent in schools.

The iPad Pro and the new iPad Mini are both thinner AND lighter than the iPad Air, which is LITERALLY called "Air"... How does this make sense

I genuinely hate videos like this. They put a device under the most abnormal unintended conditions 99.5% of people will never experience or do, then call it “review content” by blaming the manufacturer for optimizing a device for its “intended uses.” -Don’t bend your phone backwards -Don’t slam the screen open and closed -Don’t pour sand on it -Don’t push the hinge bottom when opening or closing -Don’t peel off the screen unless it needs pro replacement
Iphone duo fails the @ZacksJerryRig durability test even after being 5.2mm thick. It developed green lines from the bend test.

Ouch, how long have you been in tech? The IP rating is for the body of the phone only, not the hinge... Second, the dust used to get an IP rating is like fine talc, not sand. NOTHING in his test is relatable to real world use. Should be marked "for entertainment purposes only"
Apple's $1,999 iPhone Duo failed JerryRigEverything's durability test. Dust got into the hinge despite the IP68 rating and the magnets could no longer hold it shut. The bend test left permanent green lines, then the inner screen died. That screen costs about $999 to replace without AppleCare+. Rough test, but pocket dust is not an edge case. The coverage is part of the price on this one.

AI companies: “AI is going to cure cancer and unify physics.” Also AI companies: “Check out our new product! It’s for phone scams :)”
We made the first AI model you can have a realistic conversation with that was trained entirely on speech! Dessa is a full-duplex speech-to-speech model that you can run on consumer GPUs. This is a GPT3 moment for speech.

Portrait mode photos looked better on iPhone 7 Plus through iPhone X than on the latest iPhones I remember Phil Schiller telling me that apple really modeled the bokeh after real attributes of real camera lenses. The natural fall off from the eyes and why the ears and the rest of the image is so blurry correctly mimics a really wide aperture lens, like F1.2 or 1.4 It’s really portrait modes on Android phones (especially Pixel) that really screwed everything up. They trained everyone to believe that full segmentation between the subject and background equals a better portrait mode. I get it. Most people do not understand the difference between Gaussian blur and proper depth of field / bokeh from an aperture blade
I remember getting the call to test out portrait mode before its release. The marriage of history, art and computational science that came together to make this possible is still incredible to me to this day. These are probably some of the first portrait mode photos ever taken by someone outside Apple.

said it once, and i'll say it again, the jerryrig guy is a fucking retard. I'm not against stress testing phones. But stress test them for actual irl scenarios: leave it in a 70-80c degree car-like place to see how it reacts to heat
Was on the fence with iPhone Duo. But will definitely pass on the $2,000 phone after it failed: ▫️dirt test (gets stuck in hinge and magnetic closing doesn’t work) ▫️lighter test (inner screen can’t handle 10 seconds of direct flame) ▫️bend test (OLED screen gets line defect)
