Is that it?
John Healey had a big job to do cleaning up Labour’s mess. This Budget fails to do it.
Britain is overspent, overborrowed and overtaxed. This Budget does not come close to meeting the moment.
My full response👇
Onward's response to Healey's budget:
Responding to John Healey’s Budget 2026, Simon Clarke, director of Onward said:
“This Budget was a missed opportunity that means the choices the country faces will be even harder in the future. Britain is drowning in three trillion pounds of debt, while the Chancellor shuffled costs from one pocket to the next.
“Businesses and households should not enter into an unlucky draw every time the Budget comes around. Scrapping standing charges on gas bills only to load the cost onto gas usage is not relief. Raising the minimum and living wage in a way that prices young people out of work is not relief. Cutting business rates for the high street while hiking them for small firms trading online is not relief.
“The Chancellor needs to tackle the causes of our problems instead of trying to manage the symptoms. Britain is over-borrowed and over-taxed, but instead Labour keeps doubling down on trying to spend their way out of trouble.”

The people of Aberdeen South won the day when they voted for @DLumsden_MP and the @ScotTories.
The message they sent that day was resounding and clear.
Now we need to get Rosebank approved.
And get Britain drilling again.
We need to use Britain’s own oil and gas reserves!
It’s a no-brainer.

Cliveden House burnt down in 1849. The architect behind Parliament rebuilt it in two years.
Now, Parliament has spent over a decade just planning its own repairs.
What happened to the country that built things? 👇

This will be a massive boost for young people across the U.K.- supporting businesses to provide more opportunities for those looking for their first break @Conservatives
NEW A Conservative government will HALVE National Insurance contributions from 15pc to 7.5pc for 18-24 year olds to get more into work, in plan costing £2.3bn.
Kemi Badenoch tells me: "People aren't hiring young people anymore. So we're going to reverse Labour's jobs tax on young people, and we're going to go even further, bringing next payments to about 7.5% if you're aged between 21 and 24." Watch now on @GBNEWS.
