The French government is currently in the process of drafting legislation to help cities across the country transition away from what they call "ugly France".
A big part of that transition involves re-purposing the excessive parking lots dotting most suburban areas.

It's crazy how wasteful we are of land in London when the city is 100,000s of homes short. This is a Sainsbury's supermarket in Zone 2: 2.5 hectare site. I've shown it here overlaid with a whole neighbourhood in Dubrovnik. Could fit 1000 homes. Instead it's mostly surface parking

How sad on this October day
To see our hedges shorn away
Small creatures would've liked to eat
The hawthorn berries, rose hips sweet,
Blackberries, nuts and sloes,
But through the blades the banquet goes.
Won’t somebody heed our words
And leave the berries for the birds

The water industry's idea of spending £10bn to cut sewage pollution is pretty meaningless. There's a lot of guesswork.
They have too poor an understanding of their own networks.
E.g. Thames Water discovered it only had monitors on 60% of its overflows.
One of the unmonitored:

After weeks of drought, all the local streams have dried up. But, as usual, NOT those flowing through the woods, albeit now just at a trickle.
Healthy natural forests act as huge sponges, absorbing vast amounts of water during times of plenty, and releasing it back out slowly.
