#MarineETech team are preparing for the final HyBIS dive on the Rio Grande Rise before we leave for Santos tonight. The dredging is providing some great samples with complicated growth histories and interesting textures @bramatsea @BritGeoSurvey @sosminerals #DY094

DY094s last dredge returned this dense, Fe-rich, chimney-like sample. Intriging as no hydrothermal actvity is reported from Rio Grande Rise, but the structure and concentric layering are reminicent of a vent chimney, any thoughts? @bramatsea @BritGeoSurvey @NOCnews @sosminerals

#RRSDiscovery dredging on the Rio Grande Rise with @bramatsea has been productive (we have lost 1 dredge, but have 2 remaining), collecting some nice crusts samples up to ~7cm thick. Great textures in the Fe-Mn. @BritGeoSurvey @NOCnews @sosminerals
