There are so many unanswered questions about AI and medical education. How do we best integrate AI tools into our curricula? How does AI affect the development of clinical decision making skills? How can AI help us operate more efficiently in our education mission?
To help us answer these questions, I'm thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Chris Stephenson to serve as our inaugural Assistant Dean for AI and Advanced Technology Implementation. Dr. Stephenson has an established track record of leadership at all levels of medical education, and will help us integrate these tools for the benefit of our trainees and their patients.
Congrats and welcome, Dr. Stephenson!!
At Mayo Clinic we are investing in new approaches to train the physicians who will transform healthcare, and we’ve made some exciting additions to our GME leadership team. Thrilled to announce our inaugural Director of the Louis B. Wilson Lab for GME Innovation, Dr. Diana Kelm!
Dr. Kelm is a widely recognized leader and innovator in medical education. In her new role, she will direct a novel lab designed for thoughtful, creative experimentation in #GME. The insights developed under her leadership will inform new models of medical education, and we’re looking forward to sharing those down the road.
Congrats to Dr. Kelm!!
I enjoy all of our Continuum podcasts, but this was a special treat:
We recorded our guest editor interview for the Sleep Neurology issue with Dr. Karin Johnson in front of a LIVE audience at the @AANmember annual meeting in Chicago. Great audience questions, no safety net, lots of fun! @drsleepykarin @caseyalbin
Recorded live at #AANAM, Drs. Lyell K. Jones and Karin Johnson discuss the August #SleepNeurology issue in Continuum Audio's first-ever live podcast recording. Full episode available on all podcast platforms or hubs.la/Q04rSJ2B0

As we celebrate the first day of the academic new year, we are welcoming more than 600 new residents and fellows to Mayo Clinic.
They are smart. They are eager. They are probably nervous. But they also represent the brightest possible future of healthcare, and it's fun to imagine what they will accomplish in their careers
Our goal: to inspire them to transform healthcare for the next generation of patients.
We can't wait to see them get started.
When I complete my term as Continuum editor-in-chief in 2027, I’ll be thrilled to leave it in excellent hands with Dr. Gordon Smith.
Gordon has been on our leadership team for years, and has a deep appreciation for the heart and soul of this wonderful journal. Congrats to Gordon!
Congratulations to A. Gordon Smith, MD, FAAN, who will become the next editor-in-chief of Continuum on May 1, 2027. Dr. Smith succeeds Lyell K. Jones Jr, MD, FAAN, who departs to become the next president of @AANmember. Read more: hubs.la/Q04mG2Kl0

Our first Editor’s Choice article from the latest Continuum is on stroke prevention. It is open access
Obviously an important topic. After all, a stroke prevented is better than a stroke treated. But this article is also just a really good read. Hope you enjoy! (link in replies)
Lots of updates in here on stroke prevention:
🧠 What’s the latest with GLP-1 agonists?
🧠 How does CREST-2 change our approach to asymptomatic athero?
🧠 Latest on prolonged monitoring for Afib?
🧠 How else does stroke prevention promote brain health?
Big thanks to @MitchElkind for writing for Continuum!
