BBC Blue Peter
Back in March 1974, John Noakes climbed 80 feet up one of the floodlights at QPR’s Loftus Road, to change a light bulb (a big light bulb) in the days before Health & Safety…and in a pair of flairs.
The man was fearless!

An excellent weekend. It was good to see our end users and many friends from the hobby. Molly was also superb with how she handled the questions from the visitors to our stand on products she is not familiar with.
A huge congrats to Andy (M0NKR) who won an Icom IC-705 in the raffle yesterday at the RSGB Convention - we hope you enjoy your prize!
Thanks also to everyone who stopped by the Icom stand to see Chris & Molly, what a weekend! 📻

Our Amateur Radio specialist Chris Service Team member Molly stopped by to visit the crew at @moonrakerukltd.
As a newly licensed operator, it was a fantastic opportunity for Molly to meet other enthusiasts and talk all things technical📻

You were told by your own members it would not work. You refusen to listen, you refused to act for your own members. Shocking is not the word. CWU - A bunch of Clowns
From a business user now getting one delivery a week.
CWU announces pause to new delivery model rollout
The CWU has today (9 October) announced a pause to any further rollout of delivery model 26 (DM26) until there is a credible and agreed plan to address the issues affecting units that are currently not working. Following the announcement, Royal Mail has requested immediate negotiations.
The union remains firmly committed to ensuring that both EP and Royal Mail comply with the National Agreement and urgently focus on those delivery offices where DM26 is not operating as intended.
It is important to remember that when a regulator changes the Universal Service Obligation for the delivery of mail, it creates a binding requirement on the company to implement those changes for both legal and commercial reasons.
DM26 was not the union's preferred option, nor do we run the company. It was a negotiated solution and the only viable alternative to the optimised delivery model (ODM), which failed to deliver in the offices where it was trialled. It was also the only other alternative option that complied with Ofcom's regulatory changes.
Members are reminded that the best way to ensure delivery offices bring in the new way of working successfully is to support your union at local, area and Divisional level to ensure that the necessary interventions and agreed fixes are delivered within your workplace.
Together, we must now focus on ensuring that the agreements we have secured are properly implemented and that every affected unit receives the support and corrective action it needs.

Scottish school pupils had the rare chance to speak directly to astronauts aboard the International Space Station during a live radio transmission.
The event connected pupils at Wick High School with astronauts orbiting hundreds of miles above Earth, giving them the opportunity to ask questions about life and work in space.

XR0Z – Alexander Selkirk Island SA-101 postponed till NOVEMBER due to storms.
This year, the El Niño phenomenon has brought numerous storm systems from the Pacific, affecting the Chilean coast. Heavy rainfall is forecast over the next five days, and another storm front is expected to reach central Chile the following week.
This bad weather affects our present journey to A.Selkirk, however, future forecasts indicate that conditions should improve during the first half of November.
Team has decide that Dxpedition will therefore take place in the month of November, with departure from Santiago de Chile (Capital city) to Robinson Crusoe scheduled for a date after November 5 2026.
As a team, we believe it is best to wait for this more favorable weather window, which should provide safer and more suitable conditions for the journey.
More updates coming soon.
