Prayers rise from Jordan as the crowd chants “Ave Maria,” remembering the nine martyrs and praying for the injured and all families affected by the church attack. Nine people were killed and 40 injured when gunmen opened fire during a funeral at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Hamoud, Karak, on October 23. The victims’ funerals will take place tomorrow, Sunday, October 25. Please pray for the eternal rest of our nine martyrs, the healing of the injured, and strength and comfort for all the families affected. May God be close to them as they prepare to lay their loved ones to rest. 🇯🇴🙏

I am absolutely disgusted by those who say letting Christians live in the Middle East is a form of “tolerance”. You tolerate undesirable things. Christians ARE the Middle East. They are Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon and everywhere else. Christians are us.

A Christian called Mohammed, killed in a church. RIP Dr Mohammed Al Qussos, who succumbed to his wounds after the Karak terrorist attack. Where else do Christians call themselves Mohammed but in this beautiful land of Jordan?!

Terrorists exist everywhere and will strike anywhere. But in Jordan they have utterly failed. The massive public reaction and total unity in Jordan between Christians and Muslims is unparalleled. That is why the King of Jordan has the support of Christians and Muslims as custodian of the Jerusalem holy places. He is the protector of his people: Christians and Muslims alike

To understand how religion-blind Jordan is, I have seen messages of friends of the victims not even knowing their friends were Christian. Jordanian society not only is not interested to know if one is Muslim or Christian, in fact it is seen as vulgar to ask one’s religion. That is why the terrorist attack is totally alien to Jordan. Here is a random social media post…#Jordan

Beautiful at this horrific time - Jordanians reciting Islamic and Christian prayers for the victims of the barbaric ISIS terrorist attack today. Jordan is the most united and religion-blind country in the region

I have for long advocated for the excommunication of members of ISIS by mainstream Islamic authorities like Al Azhar. After the horrific terrorist attack in Jordan today against the church, ISIS must be excommunicated from mainstream Islam (takfeer)

Our hearts are with our brothers and sisters in the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan following the heinous terrorist attack on a church in Karak Governorate, which targeted innocent and peaceful worshippers. This appalling crime stands in flagrant violation of the teachings of all divine religions and reflects the perpetrators’ utter disregard for compassion, humanity, and moral values. We extend our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of the victims and wish the injured a swift and full recovery. We pray to Almighty Allah to protect our beloved Jordan and its brotherly people from all harm and evil, and to bless Jordan and our nations with enduring peace, security, and stability.

This is a good statement
We strongly condemn the recent violence in which Israeli extremists attacked Palestinians, burned olive trees, and injured a Washington Post photographer. We wish Heidi Levine a full and speedy recovery from her injuries. We call for an urgent, coordinated effort from Israeli authorities to bring an end to the wave of Israeli extremist violence that has harmed civilians throughout the West Bank. Order must be restored, and violent extremists prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
