Major paper I've been working on is out today! We found genetics has a strong influence on skeletal response to immobilization. This is the first evidence showing changes in bone volume, quality and gene expression from immobilization are heritable. doi.org/10.1016/j.bonr.2021.…

Check out or new paper examining how genetic variation affects skeletal muscles exposed to simulated microgravity: nature.com/articles/s41526-0… We found that genetics caused some mice to be protected from muscle loss. Transcriptomic response also varied based on genetic background.

I asked ChatGPT to respond like Donald Trump to help me understand what my RNAseq results mean. ... it's tremendous!

Seems hard to care about health research while the entire planet's #climate is rapidly deteriorating. Meanwhile, everyone who has any power to do something about it doesn't seem to care. Also ... #ALIENS!!

I posted a job opening for a undergrad research assistant in our lab, and more people applied than we can hire 😳. What are some good interview questions I should ask?

Our latest paper examining how genetics affects the response to hindlimb unloading is out now in @JOrthopRes! We found bone loss from hindlimb unloading varied by mouse strain in the founder strains of the Diversity Outbred mouse population. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

We have future manuscripts examining how skeletal muscle was affected in these mice and another manuscript analyzing the transcriptomic (RNAseq) response to unloading in the C57BL/6J mice used here.
