Heartbreaking news coming out of CFB Wainwright. My thoughts & prayers are with our brave CAF members and families, and all affected by this tragedy. Thank you to the first responders and medical personnel caring for the injured. Manitoba stands with our military community. 🇨🇦
It is with profound sadness that we confirm that a fire incident at CFB Wainwright on October 17 resulted in fatalities and injuries. Our immediate priority is supporting those affected and notifying next of kin. canada.ca/en/department-nati…

Manitobans deserve to feel safe in their communities. That’s what Progressive Conservatives worked to deliver last week in the Manitoba Legislature. Here’s a recap: - Proposed new Crown prosecutor unit - Introduced bill against domestic violence - Called for inquiry into CFS

Serving as Interim of Manitoba's Progressive Conservative Party and Official Opposition is a responsibility I never went looking for, but one I am honoured to take on. My focus: Creating the conditions for a more prosperous, affordable, healthier, and safer Manitoba.
La Vérendrye MLA Konrad Narth is Manitoba's new interim Leader of the Official Opposition! 🦬 "I'm grateful for the trust and confidence of my colleagues, moving forward as one united caucus,” said Narth. “I want to thank the former Leader for his service. I believe that there's a better path forward for this province, and Progressive Conservatives are committed to showing Manitobans exactly what that looks like.” The Legislature returned for the fall legislative session on Tuesday. “Manitobans deserve an Opposition that not only holds their government to account, but listens to their concerns and is ready to offer them something better," said Narth. "That's our job. We owe you our very best work and we are committed to delivering that to you. We are more optimistic than ever about building a more affordable Manitoba, a more prosperous Manitoba, and a safer Manitoba.”

Manitobans have the right to live free from intimidation, and to proudly and loudly celebrate their identity, faith and way of life. Three years after Hamas’ terrorist attacks against Israel, the Organized Jewish Community welcomes Opposition Leader Konrad Narth’s, and @MBPCcaucus’s statement calling out antisemitism, hate, and harassment. Manitoba is not a home for hate. Every Manitoban has a role to play in keeping our province safe, welcoming and united.
Statement from Manitoba Opposition Leader Konrad Narth on the 3rd anniversary of the October 7th attacks: Today, we remember the victims of the October 7, 2023 terrorist attacks and the Jewish lives that were taken that day. We also remember those whose lives have been forever changed by those horrific events. Among those murdered was Vivian Silver, a Manitoban, a Winnipegger, a tireless advocate for peace, and a woman who dedicated much of her life to bringing people together. Her death was an enormous loss for Manitoba and for all those who knew her work and her commitment to building a better world. As we remember October 7, we must also recognize what its impact has meant for Jewish Manitobans here at home. Over the past three years, we have seen a deeply concerning rise in antisemitism in Manitoba. Jewish Manitobans have faced harassment, threats, intimidation and discrimination. We have seen concerns raised about safety at places of worship, community institutions and on university campuses. These are not abstract concerns. They affect real people in our communities and have caused Jewish Manitobans to question whether they can openly express their identity without becoming a target. Whether they can openly express their identity without needing police protection. No Manitoban should ever feel that they need to hide their Jewish identity to feel safe. No parent should have to worry about their child being targeted because they are Jewish. No senior should feel unsafe attending their community centre. No family should have to think twice about attending synagogue. And no student should have to fear harassment simply because they wear a Star of David or identify as Jewish. Antisemitism has no place in Manitoba. We must be willing to call it out wherever it appears, whether it is expressed through threats, harassment, vandalism, intimidation, conspiracy theories or hatred directed at Jewish people simply because they are Jewish. We must also recognize that words matter. When hatred is normalized, when antisemitic rhetoric is excused or when violence against Jewish people is celebrated, it can create an environment where Jewish Manitobans no longer feel safe. Manitoba has a proud and longstanding Jewish community that has contributed enormously to our province. Jewish Manitobans are our neighbours, our friends, our classmates, our colleagues and members of our communities. They have helped build Manitoba, strengthen our institutions and make our province what it is today. We have a responsibility to ensure that they can continue to live their lives openly and proudly, without fear. That means standing against antisemitism clearly and consistently. It means supporting Jewish communities, protecting places of worship and community institutions, and ensuring that incidents of hate are taken seriously and properly addressed. October 7 is a day of remembrance, but it is also a reminder of the responsibility we have here in Manitoba. We cannot allow hatred to become normalized. We cannot allow Jewish Manitobans to feel isolated or alone. And we cannot remain silent when antisemitism appears in our communities. Today, we remember Vivian Silver and all those whose lives were taken on October 7. And we remember them by ensuring that Manitoba remains a province where every person can live, worship, work, learn and raise their family free from hatred and fear.

Dauphin families have been hit from all angles over the past few months. A shuttered hospital. Devastating flooding. Tariffs. Not to mention the day-to-day challenges. Rising cost of living. Public safety concerns. Worsening healthcare and disability support systems. These were just some of the issues I heard from you last week in Dauphin with nearly our entire Progressive Conservative team of MLAs. I want to thank everyone who came out to our BBQ & public reception, as well as the numerous Parkland municipal/community leaders and businesses who met with our caucus. While our trip to Dauphin is over, our work has just begun. Not only will your concerns be raised in the Legislature when session begins this month, the ideas and solutions you provided will help inform the direction of our @MBPCcaucus. We are here for you every step of the way. (P.S. I love the Parkland so much I’ve already forgiven the Roughriders fans that showed up to our BBQ) – at Winnipeg, Manitoba

After unprecedented amounts of rainfall drenching parts of Manitoba, the sky embraced the earth over PR 416 in Interlake-Gimli yesterday. (Photo by @InterlakePC) Thousands of Manitobans are dealing with damaged homes, destroyed farmland, washed-out roads, and the stress of thinking just how much this is all going to cost. But even in the bleakest, dreariest of times, there is hope. From the Interlake to the Parklands, neighbours have stepped up to help neighbours, families have shown incredible resilience, and local leaders—from reeves to firefighters to farmers—have answered the call to action. Manitobans have stepped up for Manitobans. The provincial government has now activated disaster financial assistance for all Manitobans affected by this week’s severe flooding. While this is only the beginning, I’d like to thank Premier Kinew for taking this important first step. As Manitoba’s Official Opposition, Progressive Conservatives will work with the NDP government to ensure that the Province remains a reliable, effective, and responsible partner in the clean-up, rebuilding, and recovery process. If you’re having trouble connecting with supports, I encourage you to contact your MLA. We will get through this together.

Views from the Interlake/Lakeside region today. Communities across Manitoba are looking at widespread damage to highways, homes, and livelihoods after last night’s storms. These repairs will require significant provincial investments — in addition to what’s needed in the Swan Valley. The premier’s go-to response that he will give “whatever resources are needed” simply is not good enough. The people of Steinbach know this all too well after being hit with 2 months of rain in September. The city begged for disaster aid. Kinew said no, people should’ve had insurance. This came after the Kinew government slashed emergency funding by over $52 million since 2024. I am urging Premier Wab Kinew to provide tangible, measurable commitments for municipalities to recover and rebuild their communities. Our Progressive Conservative MLAs, who represent most of these storm-ravaged municipalities, are ready to work collaboratively with the premier and his NDP in any way we can to see this through. After such a chaotic week, Manitobans deserve to have some peace of mind. ‼️ Please follow your local municipalities/authorities and MLAs for continued updates, and visit the Manitoba Ready site for alerts and info.

You can’t make this up… Today, we asked the Manitoba NDP to stay late into the evening to move their own budget bill forward. They said no. Mind you, this is the same budget bill that Wab Kinew says must pass by June 1st “or else.” I’ve said all along that PCs are ready to work with the NDP to ensure that their budget goes to a vote before the summer. We’ve also introduced a resolution that would save your family up to $3000 every year. If the NDP can’t even defend their own budget, why should Manitobans support it?

Why are we pushing so hard to raise the basic personal exemption? Because you work hard for your money. The spring Legislative sitting is set to end next Monday, June 1st. But Premier Wab Kinew is threatening to keep MLAs all summer—away from constituents—if PCs don’t stop pushing for stronger affordability measures. PCs are ready to work with the NDP to ensure that their budget bill goes to a vote before the summer if they consider our amendment for meaningful tax relief. Our proposal is to remove income tax off the first $30,000 you earn, saving your family up to $250 on every paycheque ($3000/year). If you make less than $30,000/year, that would mean you pay zero provincial income tax. This is a snippet from my 10-minute speech on the budget bill, urging the NDP to do what’s right for you.

Manitobans don’t elect MLAs to fight each other. They want us working together to find solutions. I’m once again urging Premier Wab Kinew to collaborate across party lines to address Manitoba’s affordability crisis. The premier does not need PCs to pass his budget to take PST off of Slurpees. He has a majority government. But families need more than pennies. That’s why Progressive Conservatives are calling to increase Manitoba’s basic personal exemption to $30,000. This move would save your family up to $250/month ($3000/year) on income taxes. For seniors, minimum-wage workers, and students making less than $30K in Manitoba, that means no more provincial income tax. Our PC MLAs are prepared to ensure that the NDP’s budget bill comes to a vote before the summer. All we’re asking for is the NDP to include a meaningful increase to the BPE.

This reminds me of last year when Kinew heckled “call me dad” during budget estimates. The premier’s bizarre way of deflecting accountability is actually embarrassing.
Here’s Wab Kinew making dog noises at Obby Khan, among other embarrassing behaviour. On Tuesday, Progressive Conservative Leader @obbykhan60 was asking Premier @WabKinew questions about the government’s budget and spending estimates. Unfortunately, Kinew is not a serious premier. This is just an example of his everyday behaviour. The Opposition’s job is to hold government accountable on how they choose to spend your tax dollars. So when the premier acts this way, Manitobans should remember: He’s laughing at YOU.

In both peace and struggle, Ukrainians have confidently worn the vyshyvanka as an act of unity, remembrance, cultural pride, and resilience. This familiar symbol of identity speaks to the deep roots of the Ukrainian people in Manitoba’s heritage. Thank you to Joanne Lewandowski and @ukrcancongress for bringing Manitobans together this afternoon to celebrate Vyshyvanka Day. 🇺🇦🇨🇦

More embarrassing behaviour from Nahanni Fontaine — Supported by Wab Kinew. During Question Period on Thursday, PC Education Critic Wayne Ewasko raised concern about Winnipeg’s drug crisis reaching schoolyards. Teachers are resuscitating people on playgrounds. Children are stepping over people. While the justice minister responds by denying the whole thing, Minister of Families Nahanni Fontaine can be heard off camera spewing childish insults at MLA Ewasko. This is the type of daily behaviour that reports and op-eds about decorum don’t include. This is who Wab Kinew’s NDP are.

Big congrats to the @MJHLNighthawks on solidifying yourselves as Canada’s BEST Junior A hockey team 🏒☝️ The Nighthawks are the 4th team from Manitoba ever to take the Centennial Cup. So glad our Progressive Conservative team got to give these young men some much deserved recognition in the Legislature today, starting with Niverville’s own MLA Ron Schuler. Manitoba is once again proving to produce the best of the best.
