This Toonie Tuesday we are working with the legends at @dzygapaws to raise money for the legendary unit of the Ukrainian Armed forces – the infamous the 108th Separate Assault Battalion "Da Vinci Wolves." Even the name of this unit invokes fear in the orcs. We will be helping heroes like callsign Pikachu – a legendary drone pilot. Let us honour him and his unit with giving them a good toonie.

The night sky over Kstovo, Russia, lit up by massive fires at the Lukoil oil refinery following overnight Ukrainian drone strikes.
🔥🛢️A massive Ukrainian drone attack struck the Kstovo oil refinery in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Oblast overnight on November 1.
The Lukoil-owned refinery is one of Russia’s largest, with an annual processing capacity of around 17 million tonnes of crude oil.
The Russian governor said attack involved over 100 drones and caused significant damage to an industrial facility in the area.

Frohnmaier soll 2018 sensible, als „Verschlusssache – Nur für den Dienstgebrauch“ eingestufte Bundestagsdokumente (u. a. mit Russland- und Syrien-Bezug sowie Berichte zu Bundeswehr-Auslandseinsätzen) an sein privates AOL-E-Mail-Konto weitergeleitet haben. Ein solches Vorgehen ist laut Bundestagsverwaltung streng verboten. Frohnmaier räumte die Weiterleitungen ein, betonte aber, die Vertraulichkeit sei stets gewährleistet gewesen.
Frohnmaier gilt seit Jahren als sehr Russland-nah. Bereits 2019 tauchte ein russisches Strategiepapier auf, in dem es hieß, man habe ihn „absolut unter Kontrolle“ – was er als „völlig verrückt“ zurückwies.

🇺🇸🇱🇹 Politico: The Trump administration is pressing Lithuania to open a central Baltic Sea port to potash exports from Belarus, despite European sanctions, as the U.S. looks to reduce its reliance on Canada for the critical fertilizer ingredient and help drive down costs for American farmers.
According to four European officials, U.S. special envoy for Belarus John Coale has put out feelers with Lithuanian diplomats in recent weeks about easing its blockade on goods from Belarus.
The punitive measures bar EU ports from shipping Belarusian goods, but they must be extended every 12 months.
Lithuania, which will take over the rotating presidency of the European Union at the beginning of the year, could in theory veto the next extension, due in February, allowing the sanctions to expire. Lithuania, however, is one of the EU’s staunchest allies of Ukraine.

How predictable.
According to BILD, Russian forces are using the ceasefire in Oleshky to reinforce their positions, move troops and military equipment, strengthen fortifications and prepare for further military operations.
And by the way, this is a small preview of what a ceasefire could look like on a much larger scale.
Of course, we all want this war to end. We want the killing to stop. We want peace. But without strong security guarantees, a ceasefire could simply give Russia time to regroup, rearm and prepare for another war.
And that’s exactly why security guarantees for Ukraine aren’t some optional extra we can figure out later. Because the last thing we need is a ceasefire that gives Putin a few years to prepare for his next invasion.
