WA state led the nation in economic growth in the first quarter of 2026.
State's GDP grew at an annualized rate of 4.5%, the fastest growth rate among all 50 states and more than double the national average of 2.1%.

Today I signed an Executive Order launching the Governor's Economic Development Council, a historic convening of top leaders from around Washington state to help guide the next chapter of economic prosperity for our state.
This is the first such body in two decades — since Governor Christine Gregoire’s Global Competitiveness Council in 2006.
