🤦♂️ Nick Ferrari can’t believe what he’s hearing from the clueless Border Security Minister this morning.
Things got a bit awkward with Anna Turley and Nick Ferrari on LBC. Watch it for your own amusement.
He’s asking what happened to the “tough cookie” after Shabana Mahmood watered down her own immigration reforms yesterday. He says the cookie’s crumbled, hasn’t it?
Turley: “No, not at all. Shabana is one of the toughest people I’ve ever met in my life.”
Nick reacts with absolute bewilderment:
“Oh, do me a favour! Respectfully, Minister, please!” 😂
He asks her to detail that toughness she showed yesterday. Turley can’t, so instead she reels off the usual lines about immigration down 80%, small boat crossings down 40% and removals up by 50%.
Nick cuts in and asks where the removals are actually going. “Which countries do they go to?”
Turley: “They go back to countries we’ve got an agreement with, who will accept them.”
Ferrari: “Such as?”
Cue mass panic from the minister. She’s looking left, right and centre for the details while people scramble in the background for information. 😂
She properly panics, stutters and stammers, and still waiting for the info she blurts out “Albania”, the first country she can think of.
Ferrari keeps her on the hook knowing she’s scrambling: “80,000 people have all gone back to Albania?”
Turley proper squirming now, looking everywhere: “No, no, a whole range of other countries.”
Ferrari: “What are the other countries then?”
Turley: “They go back to their countries of origin.”
Ferrari: “But what are those countries?”
Turley fully grasping at straws at this point: “Erm, countries in Africa, countries around the world.”
Glorious. 😂
She was all over the place and Nick knew it and played her like a fiddle.
Car crash after car crash with this lot, but that was pretty funny to watch.

On behalf of the British people, I would like to apologise for the slave trade. I am sorry we were the first great power in history to turn its guns on it. I am sorry it cost us around 2,000 sailors to free 150,000 people they would never meet. I am sorry the rest of the world took so long to follow.
Slavery did not begin with Britain. It is as old as civilisation. Babylon wrote it into law. Rome built an empire on it. The Vikings sold Englishmen through the slave market at Dublin. In 1625 Barbary corsairs took 60 men, women and children out of a Cornish church; by 1640 Parliament was told 3,000 to 5,000 English people were held in Algiers alone.
Every great power of the age took part in the Atlantic trade. Portugal and Spain for a century before an English ship did. Then the Dutch, the French — and the British, who in the eighteenth century carried more than anyone. That is the record. It is not disputed here.
Then a nation turned on the trade that had made it rich.
Wilberforce's bill was beaten year after year. On 25 March 1807 it passed. Then Britain did the part the critics never mention — it sent the Royal Navy to enforce it. The West Africa Squadron sailed in 1808, two ships for 3,000 miles of coast, and hunted slavers for nearly sixty years. Britain paid Spain and Portugal to open their ships to search. HMS Black Joke ran down the slaver El Almirante in 1829 and found 466 people in her hold.
Around 2,000 British sailors died doing it — most of fever, to free people they would never meet. 1,600 slave ships seized. 150,000 Africans set free.
In 1833 Parliament borrowed £20 million to end slavery across the Empire. The debt was not finally redeemed until 2015. The United States needed a civil war. Cuba held slaves until 1886. Brazil until 1888 — eighty-one years after Westminster voted.
Yes, we took part in the trade. Every power of the age did. None of them fought it like we did.
So yes. I will apologise. I am sorry it cost us so much. I am sorry the rest of the world took so long to follow.
That is not something you apologise for. That is something you teach.

This isn't about slavery at all
If it was, these campaigners would be fighting for the millions of Africans in MODERN slavery
This is a cash grab by the Caribbean and an attack on Britain & The West by activists
No one today is a victim of Britain's slave trade
Nigel Farage and Zia Yusuf full press Q&A in response to Shabana Mahmood’s U-turn on immigration.
The usual masterclass.
Imagine a Labour or Tory Party government doing the same. Never happens.
This is how real government should be.
Farage and Yusuf answering questions directly and setting out a clear alternative is the standard the public should expect from those who want to run the country.

Replying to @JMKnightJ @RupertLowe10
I'll give you something to read.
Nobody did anything to Rupert.
Rupert Lowe allowed his male staff to bully his female staff over the course of several months.
Rupert ignored repeated requests to stop the bullying and the two females were eventually forced to complain to parliamentary authorities.
They worked for parliament, not Reform, and the complaints had absolutely nothing to do with Nigel Farage or Reform.
Rupert knew the complaints were about to become public knowledge and he would have to be suspended while parliament investigated his behaviour.
What did he do? He went to the Daily Mail and gave a horrible, completely unprovoked interview.
He slagged off Nigel and Reform so he could turn around and say "look! I've been suspended by Reform because I criticised Nigel!"
Then the complaints about his behaviour became public knowledge.
Rupert went on X and started bad mouthing the poor women who had been bullied for months in his office.
He said it was all bullshit, the women were just shit at their jobs and there was no evidence.
What he didn't say was both women were highly intelligent, had masters degrees and had worked at the highest levels of government for 14 years with top security clearance.
What he also didn't say was that he had already admitted, in writing, that the bullying had taken place and the behaviour was unacceptable.
He lied through his teeth, in public, and there is verifiable written evidence to prove it.
At the same time as all of this, Rupert had already threatened Zia Yusuf once.
Zia and Reform decided to let that one go.
When he threatened Zia for a second time, they reported it to the police, which is the right thing to do for people in public life.
What would you do if some cranky old man who owned guns threatened your daughter, not once, but twice?
The police seized Rupert's guns because they thought it was necessary after reviewing the evidence.
Again, only the police decide to take action. Not Reform or Nigel Farage.
The man is a prick who almost bankrupted a football club and fleeced the British taxpayer out of hundreds of thousands of pounds during the pandemic whilst making millions selling Covid testing kits.
You might think he's the best thing since sliced bread but I think he's a cunt.
