ACP agrees with @CMSgov on the importance of primary care & primary care physicians. We believe that a robust primary care workforce can help to address physician shortages & underscore the value of primary care for patients, communities, & the health care system as a whole.
“It’s been very important to me… to support primary care because it really serves as a cornerstone and foundation for how we want to innovate, to provide whole-person care to everybody in our country.” - @drmeenasesh, Center for Medicare Director at @CMSGov

How much more evidence do people need to recognize that private equity is terrible for healthcare? This is sickening.
“Private-equity investment in nursing homes has grown from about $5 billion at the turn of the century to more than $100 billion today. The results have not been pretty.”

In 2021, premature death from cancer was about 41% higher among Black New Yorkers compared to the citywide average—higher than the rates among Asian, Latino, and White New Yorkers. One of the goals of #HealthyNYC is to reduce this driver of declining life expectancy.
While deaths from screenable cancers have declined since 2015, disparities persist, with Black New Yorkers having higher rates compared with the citywide average. We're working to reduce disparities in screenable cancer deaths: nyc.gov/healthynyc #HealthyNYC

Residents, if you interview with a private practice, always ask if they're interested in selling to private equity. If they say no, politely ask if you can give them a polygraph. If they pass the polygraph, consider engaging in a bit of light torture to make absolutely sure.

It seems pharmacy benefit managers don’t like that people are learning about their little shadow operation. Pharma is a problem, but insurance owned PBMs (optum, caremark, etc) are pulling the strings. Won’t somebody think of the vertically integrated billion dollar corporations?

Plants and plant-forward diets are key to our future as a city, nation, and planet. Healthy diets, full of fresh, whole foods, are key to healthier, longer lives and preventing a range of chronic diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension.
Today we announced a new campaign that urges New Yorkers to put plants on their plates and adopt a healthy balanced diet full of whole foods. Eating a diet with lots of plants can improve health and help manage or reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes: on.nyc.gov/42WTXjG
