Your suitcase has room for a few more books.
Stop by our Frankfurt Book Fair booth, say hi to Bill, and put that theory to the test!
If you're in Frankfurt stop by the book fair. We'll be here through Sunday. Selling everything Saturday and Sunday. @nostarch

Replying to @davidbombal
@davidbombal talked shop with some of our authors at DEF CON this year! First up, hardware hacker @travisgoodspeed, who shows David how he recovered the original Game Boy’s 256-byte boot ROM from a microscopic image of its CPU.

I highly recommend @fabynou ‘s Game Engine Black Books for anyone even vaguely interested in 90’s game technology!
Fabien's books are fantastic, and he has the absolute best explanation of float numbers I have ever read. He was the main source of inspiration for me to write my own book on Game Boy programming. I can't recommend enough the two black books, his book on CPS, and his website.
The RGBDS team seems very active; they already released RGBDS v1.0.3!

This book by @MDagois is awesome… great for teaching young people about computer architecture and low level programming… this type of knowledge is essential for building real world applications and hardware. Go get it! Plus… Gameboy rules.
I added an article about implementing the pop slide on Game Boy to mdagois.github.io. It is a method to copy data fast. Please have a look.

Jailbreak kindle: cut Amazon off, own your books, better reading experience, takes 10min.
1. Go to the kindle modding wiki, it has all the instructions step by step
kindlemodding.org/jailbreaki…
2. I’m on firmware version 5.17 so I downloaded WinterBreak, the jailbreaking exploit
3. Then download KUAL (PEKI version), the custom app launcher, and MRPI. Extract them and throw them on your kindle via USB
4. Run a script to disable OTA updates (optional), then download KOReader, the ‘kindlehf’ release if you’re firmware v5.16.3 or later.
5. Put your books in a Books folder at the root of your kindle. I have tons of @nostarch books, who conveniently have .epub versions for all purchases you make on their site.
6. Find them under /mnt/us/ and set that folder as Home on KOReader (which I launch with ‘no framework’ mode to kill the default kindle UI)
7. You can run a script to disable ads on your kindle. Then, you can set custom screensavers instead in KOReader. Throw images in an Images folder, then Gear icon > Screen > Sleep screen > wallpaper
