BBC Sport approached @number10gov for a response to my letter to @andyburnham . The @DHSCgovuk responded and unfortunately this statement isn’t anything we didn’t already know. There are also fundamental inaccuracies within it. Please also bear with me; I’ve had an extremely large amount of messages and I’m operating with a very limited capacity. @Ed_Miliband @tessamunt @JoPlattLeigh @KatieFalkingham @BBCSport @BBCNews @UKLabour @ThereForME_UK @YvetteCooperMP

We’ve been blown away by the response to my interview with @BBCSport & @KatieFalkingham , thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to read and engage with it ❤️ millions of views across multiple platforms really is immense. We have since written to @andyburnham , calling on the @UKLabour government to fund research into this horrific illness. I know there’s so much more we could say, but with limited capacity, we’ve tried to focus on the lack of funding, resources in the NHS and how much it’s actually costing the government. As you can see on the slides, it has been drastically underfunded compared to other illnesses and it is currently costing the UK Government far more than it would cost to fund research. ME is most often a post-viral illness. Therefore, since the start of the Covid pandemic, we’ve seen cases increase drastically and they will continue to increase. We need funding into research urgently. With estimates of people with ME being around 1.35 million, this is a lot of lives destroyed. I’ve had thousands of messages on multiple platforms since sharing my story so please bear with me ❤️ Thanks to @ThereForME_UK and @wecrunchme for the stats.

A voice can reach the places we cannot 🪞 Today, The Mirrorbox arrives at the Royal Opera House carrying a message from Charlotte W. Part of artist Alison Larkman’s I Would Be Here If I Could, the touring installation brings the voices of people living with ME and Long Covid to places across the UK they love but can no longer reach. You're invited to step inside and hear Charlotte’s memories of this place, then write a postcard back to her. A moment of connection between Charlotte and those standing in a place that means so much to her. 📅 Visit The Mirrorbox at the Royal Opera House on 12 and 13 September - free to visit. #MirrorboxJourney #MECFS #RoyalOperaHouse

Personal stories help raise awareness of the vital role carers play in our communities. Thank you @EdwardJDavey for sharing yours and helping to highlight Carers Week.
Being a carer means showing up every day, doing what needs to be done, often without anyone noticing. That’s why I’m so glad Carers Week this year is all about building carer-friendly communities, where carers are recognised and supported.

Carers UK submitted a response to the Timms Review on the future of PIP. Thank you to the unpaid carers who helped strengthen our submission. We call on the Government to adopt a whole-family approach to PIP reform, recognising the links between PIP and carers' benefits.
