1/ The phenomenon of fathers and sons at the highest level in football is fascinating. 👨👦⚽️
In a new study, we interviewed 3 Norwegian national team dyads (Sørloth, Thorstvedt, Berg) to explore how former professional players may influence their children.
🧵
5/ Across the findings, fathers expressed a relaxed approach to elite sport. As Ørjan Berg put it: “This is their life. And how they want to live it, they ultimately must figure out for themselves. We’re here to support and help them”
England's controversial penalty in the semi-finals raises questions. Was it mere chance that the decision favored England? Research indicates high-status teams are more likely to get favorable calls, possibly due to unconscious referee bias🤔⚽ Read more: frontiersin.org/journals/spo…

You won't read a more inspiring journal article on coaching team sports and developing great athletes. (It helps to know Erling Haaland is on the team profiled). March 2021 article. 35 of 40 kids stayed in the team from age 6 to 16. Community and a warm inclusive coach were keys.
