America's defense tech boom is being built by companies whose corporate DNA was shaped by years of cooperation with the Chinese state.
Founders who built their manufacturing careers inside Chinese state enterprises. Board seats once held by entities tied to Beijing. Early funding from Chinese state-linked investment funds. Now these same companies are in the running for the Pentagon's most sensitive, classified programs.
This isn't new. In 2016, a Tsinghua-linked firm took a stake in an Oregon chipmaker whose FPGAs sit inside U.S. missile guidance and secure communications systems. Trump blocked the full buyout a year later on national security grounds. The instinct to catch this existed once. It hasn't scaled to match how fast defense tech startups are multiplying now.
Washington is telling allies to pick a side in the AI race with China. It isn't applying that same standard to its own defense contractors.
You can't audit a mindset. A company can't divest from how it was built. Congress hasn't even asked whether mandatory counterintelligence reviews should apply to contracts this sensitive. That's not a procurement oversight in peacetime. It's an exposure that costs you a war.
D.C. should be investigating this before the first shot is fired, not after.

The Trump administration just SHUT DOWN the Biden visa-free travel program for Chinese nationals to close an illegal birth tourism loophole
The program allowed Chinese nationals to enter the Northern Mariana Islands for up to 14 days without a visa.
More than 3,000 Chinese nationals used the program in 2025 alone.
DHS warned the loophole could facilitate birth tourism to secure U.S. citizenship for newborns, Chinese espionage near sensitive American military installations, and illegal travel to Guam.

And what he said has people connecting some seriously disturbing dots.
While talking about potentially losing his voice, Trump suggested he could simply get one of today's advanced robots made to look exactly like him.
“You wouldn't know the difference.”
But he didn't stop there.
Trump joked that he could send his robotic double out on the campaign trail while he stayed home watching himself on television.
Think about that.
A sitting U.S. president openly discussing replacing himself with a robot so realistic that nobody would notice.
And with AI, humanoid robots, and deepfake technology advancing rapidly, the idea sounds less like science fiction every year.
For decades, people have questioned whether powerful world leaders use body doubles or could someday be replaced by artificial replicas.
If Trump says a robot could replace him and nobody would know the difference, are we seriously supposed to believe world leaders couldn't already be using robots, clones, or body doubles right under our noses?
