The Mavs have announced that an MRI on Cooper Flagg’s injured left shoulder sustained in last night’s game at Indiana revealed a mild sprain.
He’ll be out tonight vs San Antonio and will be re-evaluated next week with further updates provided as warranted.
Was obviously a challenge in the 2H at Indiana…Cooper hurt and Kyrie limited by fouls. 44 total team pts scored w/ Kai providing 11 pts in 10 mins in the 2H.
But the Mavs got enough in the 2H with 11 from PJ, 8 from Naji and 7 from Max Christie. MavsTV highlights of that trio here…as we ramp up for tonight’s home opener vs San Antonio at 7p.

When the Mavs played on Wednesday, based on the timing of the game, Dusty May was the 361st person to appear as a head coach in NBA history. Now he has his first win, 90 mins from Greene County, Indiana where he grew up…the Mavs win in Indy tonight 121-105.
I really thought the 2H of the Houston game with 72 pts on 73% shooting was a good springboard for tonight. Mavs came out and never trailed. They scored 77 in the first half! Unfortunately Cooper got hurt just before halftime but the big lead helped and then the Mavs ground it out in the 2H with a number of contributors.
Enjoyed that one a lot tonight and we’ll see y’all tomorrow on KFAA29 and MavsTV+ for the home opener vs San Antonio.

Of course in Indianapolis we had a Mavs TV/radio crew dinner at the great St Elmo’s on Thurs. Obvs had the famous super charged w/ horseradish shrimp cocktail. Right before I dug into this is when I told everyone I felt really good about tonight’s game after the 2H on Wed #facts
I’ve always thought Sean McDonough did a really nice job with this moment. Mostly stayed out of the way and let the pictures tell the story but gave it one really good line to sum up the moment, “the winners and still World Champions, the Toronto Blue Jays!”

Cooper Flagg (left shoulder soreness) will not return to tonight’s game. Was injured late 2Q on a play that was upgraded to a Flagrant 1 on Aaron Nesmith.

I must say after the opener I’m really excited about Marcus Sasser. For whatever reason the Mavs just haven’t had many city of Dallas or Dallas County guys on the team over the years. First game for him was really nice Wednesday (17pts, 6-8 FG) with our broadcast highlights below. We will see how it goes in Indiana tonight at 6p CDT.
