One of the more bonkers North Texas football stats I think I've ever consumed: So football overtime for the regular season was adopted by the NCAA in 1996. It took the Mean Green 20 years to play their first road OT game (a 42-35 double OT win at Rice in 2016). Since then, they've played in four more road OT games for a grand total of five, with THREE of those coming in the past 13 months. And they've never lost. - 11/24/16 at Rice (42-35 in 2OT) - 10/30/21 at Rice (30-24) - 9/6/25 at Western Michigan (33-30) - 9/20/25 at Army (45-38) - 10/1/26 at Tulsa (45-44) 5-0.

#BabbFact of Week 2: North Texas’ defeat of UNLV was the Rebels' worst regular season road loss by point margin since Week 1 of 2014 (45 at Arizona). By the same metrics against a G6 opponent, you have to go back to the final week of 2012, where they lost by 38 at Hawaii.

North Texas picks up their first win of the season with a 44-6 bludgeoning of UNLV. Jackson Arnold, who had 143 rushing yards through two games coming into today, finished with -11. It’s also the fewest points the Mean Green have allowed to an FBS opponent since last season, when Washington State also misidentified Denton geographically and lost 59-10.
