I missed #kidlitartpostcard day this month but here’s a recent cover I designed for my dream middle grade Antarctic adventure book.
A bit about me: I’m Matt - I’m middle grade / picture book illustrator based in Wales. I love creating characters that have a sinister side to them. #PortfolioDay
I don’t normally tweet very often but as it’s #KidLitArtPostcard Day I thought I’d let anyone out there know that I do kid lit art and it would make my day to hear from you. You can view my portfolio at mattabbottillustration.com. ❤️
Fantastic. Can't wait to read this.
Also, The Abstainer by Ian McGuire, released July.

I love the little unexpected echoes of the past that show we weren't too different from our ancestors. This footprint was made by a mischievous Roman toddler on a drying clay tile, around 2000 years ago.
I missed #Ameliaearhart’s birthday last week, but here’s a spread I recently painted of her as a kid flying a home-made rollercoaster #Procreate
Just some fearsome fishes from the deep for you this Monday morning. Painted w/ @Procreate

Since I left journalism I’ve not used twitter that much. But I’ve been busy building up my #childrensillustration portfolio and thought some of you would like to see. If you do, I’ll start posting more on here. You can find my other work on IG @matt_illustration.
Used to work for newsagency. Sold identical stories to the @DailyMailUK. 1 was abt a black family. The other a white family. Same column inches. Same page (diff ed obvs). Guess which one paid more? Political or design choice, that young girl will think only that she didn't belong
Compare the #DailyMail front cover photo and the stock photo they used - and notice anything about the people they cropped out?
I don't have many followers on here, but I would be incredibly grateful to anyone who retweets this, as it's very close to my heart and so, so important right now. #savelocaljournalism
