It is time for the Labor Government to implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People!
First Nations in the Murray-Darling Basin have been shortchanged in water reform and the water market.
Governments must urgently commit funding to secure water that meets their needs, write experts from @UniMelb, @Griffith_Uni + Indigenous Knowledge. theconversation.com/labors-n…
How much more carnage will it take to get lawful water mgmnt in NSW that prioritises river health & critical human needs? When will govts stop irrigators stopping flows & putting nutrients into rivers? These are the causes of the causes found by Chief Scientist.

DEG was shocked by the tactic of introducing the regulations 30 April 2021, using Parliamentary processes to give greater advantages to floodplain water harvesters in the Northern Basin. This makes us fearful of the way the NSW Government is trying to use Parliamentary processes.
FPH must be stopped! Rivers, groundwaters & floodplains must be allowed to recover. DEG supporters please amplify our anger. Challenge the capture of govt & rule of law by unseen interests.
Replying to @SlatteryJohnso
Allowing this to go ahead will have BIG flow on effects for environment and communities

The Inquiry into floodplain water harvesting chaired by @GreenCate kicked off today with plenty of discussion about the Murray Darling Basin Cap.
It’s a topic that comes up a lot, right now it’s at risk of being undermined.
#nswpol #floodplainharvesting
DEG believes #Floodplainharvesting is not legal in NSW. Licensing will: • exceed Murray-Darling Basin Cap • inconsistent with the Objects/ Principals of NSW Water Management Act • result in SDL that exceeds the environmentally sustainable level of take in breach of Water Act
