One of the all-time great Rock Hall moments: Dolly’s “Jolene” with Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Pat Benatar, Annie Lennox, Simon Le Bon (Duran Duran), Pink, and Sheryl Crow. Zac Brown Band held it down as the house band. Rest easy, Dolly 🤘

Dolly Parton explains how Elvis Presley missed out on recording “I Will Always Love You,” and how wonderful it was to be later revived by Whitney Houston. Dolly is the classiest artist we’ll ever see. We will always love YOU! RIP 🕊️

Rest in peace, Dolly Parton (1946–2026) 💔 I don’t even know how to put this into words. We lost one of the true greats today, not just in country music, but in music, period. Dolly Parton was a songwriter, a singer, an actress, a businesswoman, a philanthropist, and one of the kindest hearts this industry has ever seen. “Jolene.” “9 to 5.” “Coat of Many Colors.” “I Will Always Love You.” These aren’t just songs, they’re pieces of all our lives because we grew up listening to them. Dolly wrote music that crossed generations, crossed genres, crossed borders. And beyond the stage, through the Imagination Library, she put books into the hands of millions of kids and changed lives in ways most artists never even attempt. There will never be another Dolly. The rhinestones may have stopped shining today, but her music, her humor, her heart, those infectious attributes of hers aren’t going anywhere. She will shine forever. I think this incredible tribute by @Pink captures the greatness of Dolly’s life! Rest easy, Dolly. Thank you for the songs, the laughs, the memories, and everything you gave the world. ❤️🕊️ #DollyParton #RIPDollyParton

I met Dolly once. In a ladies room I was not supposed to be in, but what am I going to do, use the other one and wait in line like an asshole? No one was around to stop me from going down the roped off hallway so I marched in there like I owned the place and there she was, washing her hands. I'm a genius and a wordsmith, so I said, "oh my god you're DOLLY!" And she said, "well yes I am Sugar, aren't you a pretty thing?" I told her she's even more stunning in person and she said, "it costs a lot of money to look this cheap!" It was kind of like looking directly into the sun. She was amazing. What a life. What a legacy. What an indescribable loss.

If Dolly taught me anything, it’s to never have these folks catch you lacking. She always looked her best, she controlled her image, and how she showed up in the world. Even until the very end, she let us know on her terms compared to any other outlet.

My wife Tracie and I met Dolly Parton at a benefit in January, 2020. After taking a photo with her backstage, she pulled me aside to ask me about my health. Her heart for others sets her apart, and her passing leaves a hole in our world. Rest in peace Dolly.

We are heartbroken at the loss of Country icon, @DollyParton. Her impact around the world will be felt for generations to come. "At the end of the day, few artists define Country Music better than the one-word, Dolly. Over her decades-long career, I worked with her on a number of programs. She was always the most professional in every setting, often walking off the bus in heels and hair and makeup ready to go, before expected and before the cast and crew. However, along with the music, our biggest loss today is her work as a philanthropist and the genuine difference she has made in people’s lives throughout the world. There will only ever be one Dolly.” – Sarah Trahern, Country Music Association CEO

Dolly Parton was one of a kind. I had the pleasure of crossing paths with Dolly over the years, and she was every bit as memorable, talented and funny as you would imagine. But beyond the extraordinary talent was something even more important: her heart. She brought joy to generations of people and left the world considerably better than she found it. She will be missed. 😔
