Big congratulations to former Frederick Douglass High School star and UK standout Dane Key on signing with the Denver Broncos practice squad!
Key spent his high school career dominating on the turf for the Broncos, leaving as one of the most prolific wide receivers in Kentucky high school football history. He continued that momentum right down the road in Lexington, making an immediate impact for the Wildcats with his elite body control, massive catch radius, and knack for coming down with contested deep balls.
Now, he takes those talents to the NFL level, trading green and orange for navy and orange.
Signing with an NFL practice squad is a massive step in the journey—giving him a prime opportunity to develop in a professional system, go up against top-tier DBs every single day in practice, and earn his chance at a game-day roster spot.
Once a Bronco, always a Bronco. Lexington is rooting for you, Dane! 📷📷

Geno Auriemma says the hardest part of coaching isn’t winning games but instead dealing with parents who believe their child should play 35 minutes every game
“My job is hard. It’s hard because, in the world that we live in today, parents are so delusional. Every one of them thinks their kid is better than Maya, better than Stewie, better than Paige, better than anybody.”
“They think they should play 35 minutes every single game. These kids are under so much pressure that if they don’t live up to that, they’re not having any fun.”
“What makes my job hard is trying to make sure these kids all understand that it can be a lot of fun, but everything has to be in perspective.”
“Sometimes the hardest part of my job is that we’ve all kind of lost perspective of how all this works and what it means.”
“Winning games and all that stuff, that’s not hard. It’s the other stuff that’s hard.”
