WOW. Anyone who saw Germany’s training session on Tuesday will know just how intense it was. Jürgen Klopp and Pep Lijnders reunited, and the energy was absolutely relentless. Once the activation phase finished, both coaches were completely hands on, driving the session and demanding more from every action. Klopp was not messing about with his messaging. Fast attacking football. PRESS. PRESS. PRESS. Then GO. GO. GO. Win it back and attack the goal immediately. Direct. Aggressive. Relentless. No possession without purpose with Klopp! Very easy to see why he is held in such high regard by Liverpool fans.

⚽️ A youth football coach has gone viral for saying this on social media: 🗣️ “Don’t leave kids on the bench for an entire game just because your ego can’t handle losing. Nobody will remember the result of an U11 match in a few years. BUT the kids will remember how you made them feel!” 🤔 𝗗𝗘𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗘: Do you agree with him?

These are the margins we add to our school [sport] assemblies. Wow, what a final and the photo finish difference between 1st and 2nd place. Never take a good dip finish for granted.
An insanely close finish in the women's 100m hurdles final ‼️ The European title goes to Nadine Visser who clocked a time of 12.67 (-0.8) 💥 In a photo finish, Poland's Pia Skrzyszowska took the silver medal, running the same time of 12.67. 🇳🇱 Nadine Visser 12.67 (12.668) 🇵🇱 Pia Skrzyszowska 12.67 (12.669) 🇫🇷 Laeticia Bapté 12.73

We don't talk about this enough. You'll find school's (particularly in my sector) having a tug of war with PE/Sport, yet, there's so much data out there to support what PE experts have always been saying: you can do both and still come out with great outcomes. Amy is a role model
🗣 "You can be an academic badass and a track goddess!" 😎 🥈 World 200m silver medallist Amy Hunt inspiring the next generation 👏

The reality is that most sessions in youth football are group and possession-focused. It’s what many coaches are taught, and it’s what we see on most conventional coaching courses. But as coaches, we have to ask ourselves: Are we really developing individuals… or are we just developing teams? Just because players are active and sessions look busy doesn’t automatically mean learning is taking place. Players need opportunities to develop the skills they will use in the game: receiving, retaining, releasing, dominating 1v1, and solving problems on the ball. Perhaps we need to place more emphasis on skill-based development built around the needs of the individual, not just how the team performs at the weekend. After all, better players usually make better teams.

Most children don’t play football on a pitch. They play it through noise. “Pass it.” “Get rid.” “Don’t lose it.” “Boot it.” “Kick it long.” “Man on.” “Tackle.” “Run.” “Mark up.” “Stop messing.” “Focus.” All at once, from everywhere. Coach ⇢ Parent ⇢ Sideline. Here’s the uncomfortable part, every voice thinks they’re helping, but when everything is urgent, nothing is clear. When every action is dictated, nothing is learned. So what does the child do? ◍ Stop deciding. ◍ Start reacting. ◍ Play safe. ◍ Get frustrated Not due to lack of ability, but because the environment interferes with their thinking and decision-making in the game. We say we want confident players who make good decisions, then build environments that reward obedience. That’s the contradiction and it doesn’t show up in the short-term. It shows up years later when players stop trying things they haven’t been told to do or worse quit the game. If you stripped the sideline back to encouragement, positivity and freedom. What would your players actually do?

You won’t win anything with kids? Try telling Max Dowman. Such confidence, composure, touch and vision. Such balance. Such a talent. Just turned 16, creates Arsenal’s first, then scores unforgettable second gliding from his own half. Doing his GCSEs, passing his PL tests. #ARSEVE

🚨🔴 Declan Rice admitted he can’t wrap his head around Max Dowman returning to school just days after playing with the Arsenal first team 😳: "I said to Max on the way back from pre-season tour, I couldn’t get my head around it that he was going back to school. He FaceTimed the other day and he had his school uniform on, and I was like 'Mate, you’ve just played in the Premier League a week ago, and now you’re walking back through the school gates.'"

GOOSEBUMPS. Forget your club allegiances - the 16 year old, who is about to start his GCSEs in less than 2 months, is now the youngest goalscorer in PL history. That's an unreal headline that everyone should be celebrating. 👏🏽
MAX DOWMAN RUNS THE LENGTH OF THE PITCH AND WINS IT FOR ARSENAL! 🌟 The youngest-ever Premier League goalscorer!

He was just 17 when he made his debut for West Ham, a natural goalscorer with a huge future ahead of him. In 2011, during routine drug testing at the U-17 World Cup, doctors discovered he had testicular cancer. Dylan Tombides kept training, kept smiling and kept fighting. He continued to wear the West Ham shirt with pride, even while undergoing chemotherapy. His family later said he never complained, not once. In April 2014, Dylan passed away at just 20 years old. West Ham retired his number 38 shirt, and every year since, his foundation has helped raise awareness and save lives. He never got to score his first Premier League goal, but he left behind something far greater. Courage, strength and a smile that inspired everyone around him.

Kieron is an incredible youth developer - one of the best in the country to learn from. Proof is in the pudding when it comes to the talent coming out of Hale End. It's no accident.

Max Dowman is entering Year 11 in September & has built-in study time at Arsenal’s training ground to ensure his education does not suffer. Players completing their education is extremely important to the club & Per Mertesacker is the driving force behind this. [@iamAlexHowell]
