🇪🇺🇸🇴EU-Somalia trade and investment
Somalia is one of 33 African countries that can export to the EU duty free and quota free under Everything But Arms, which has no expiry date. This provides a strong incentive for Somali businesses to grow.

Brilliant result. Congratulations to my friend @Sagal_AW, I know you are a brilliant champion for our communities and will be a fantastic MP.
The meeting held today between the newly elected Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia and representatives of the opposition is a highly encouraging and constructive development.
Engaging in dialogue, acknowledging existing differences, and seeking common ground are essential steps toward building a more inclusive, effective, and cooperative parliamentary institution.
Political differences are a natural part of democratic life, and diverse political perspectives should not become obstacles to constructive engagement. What is most important is to foster a culture of mutual respect, open dialogue, and political tolerance, while ensuring that different views are given due consideration.
A Parliament that accommodates diverse perspectives and encourages cooperation can play a vital role in strengthening democratic institutions, promoting political stability, and advancing the broader national interest of Somalia.
After Decades of Civil War and Terrorism, Somali Airlines to Return to the Skies
Somali Airlines, established in 1964, suspended operations in 1991 following the outbreak of civil war and the collapse of Somalia’s central government. After a 35-year absence, the national carrier is expected to resume flights in September.
If this plan becomes a reality, it will mark another important milestone in Somalia’s recovery. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who stood by Somalia and supported its people throughout the country’s long and difficult years of hardship.
Today, I signed the Book of Condolences at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in #Mogadishu following the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Father Amir of the State of Qatar. On this solemn occasion, I extend my deepest and most sincere condolences to the Royal Family, the Government, and the brotherly people of 🇶🇦. May Allah grant him His infinite mercy and eternal peace.
An Urgent Humanitarian Appeal
The recent violence in Jalalaqsi District has triggered a devastating humanitarian crisis. Countless families have been left homeless after their homes were burned to the ground, stripping them of their shelter, belongings, and sense of security. The situation is becoming increasingly dire, with many families facing severe food shortages. We have witnessed people surviving on raw mangoes simply to stay alive—a stark reminder of the desperation and suffering they are enduring.
Among those most severely affected by the conflict are children, older persons, and other vulnerable members of the community. We have witnessed firsthand the heartbreaking conditions they are enduring—families without shelter, children going hungry, and vulnerable people struggling to meet even their most basic needs
I urgently call on the international humanitarian community, donors, and relief organizations not to overlook the tragedy unfolding in Jalalaqsi. The people affected by this crisis need immediate humanitarian assistance, including emergency shelter, food, clean water, healthcare, and protection.

Tacsi iyo Taariikh Kooban
Geerida Allaha u naxariistee Ex-ganacsade Maxamed Faarax Siyaad ayaa tacsida loo sameynayo waxa ay ka socotaa Muqdisho iyadoo la filayo in meydkiisa dalka dib loogu soo celiyo kadib markii uu ku geeriyooday dalka Masar. Marxuumka waxaa lagu xusuustaa kaalintii mugga lahayd ee uu ku lahaa ganacsiga iyo siyaasadda dalka.
Dadka shalay tacsida ka qeybgalay waxaa ma mid ahaa Gudoomiyaha Aqalka Sare ee Baarlamaanka Mudane Cabdi Xaashi Cabdullaahi oo ay si weyn isu yaqiineen marxuumka.
Sida aan ka soo xigtay Allaha u naxariistee Madaxweynihii hore ee Soomaaliya Cali Mahdi Maxamed, Maxamed Faarax Jiis oo ka soo jeeda beesha Murusade wuxuu ahaa shaqsigii hormuudka ka ahaa talada iyo taageerada keentay in Cali Mahdi loo doorto madaxweyne sanadkii 1991, maalmo yar kadib markii la riday dowladdii militeriga ahayd ee Maxamed Siyaad Barre. Arrintan waxaa sidoo kale ii xaqiijiyay Gureey Xaaji iyo Maxamed Maxamuud Guuleed (Gacmo-Dheere) oo goobgoog u ahaa.
Cali Mahdi wuxuu sheegay in markii uu Maxamed Siyaad Barre ka cararay Muqdisho, ciidamadii USC ee magaalada joogay ay bilaabeen shirar iyo wada-tashiyo. Garabkii militari ee USC, oo uu hoggaaminayay Allaha u naxariistee Jeneraal Maxamed Faarax Ceydiid, ayaa Muqdisho soo galay afar maalmood ka hor intii aan si rasmi ah xukunka lagaga ridin Maxamed Siyaad Barre.
Jeneraal Ceydiid wuxuu degay guri weyn oo ku yaalla degmada Heliwaa, halkaas oo uu ka bilaabay kulammo iyo wadatashiyo siyaasadeed. Jeneraal Ceydiid waxaa uu ka carooday siyaasiyiin beesha Hawiye u dhashay oo xilal sare ka hayay dowladdii Maxamed Siyaad Barre oo USC horboodaya kuwaas oo saameyn ku yeeshay taladii USC. Waxaa ka mid ahaa Xuseen Kulmiye, Jeneraal Galaal, Cabdiqaasim Salaad Xasan iyo kuwo kale.
Dhanka kale, Maxamed Faarax Jiis, marxuumka hadda tacsidiisa loo fadhiyo iyo koox uu hormuud u ahaa ayaa soo jeediyay in dalka laga ilaaliyo in mar kale uu gacan militeri galo, maadaama Soomaaliya ay soo martay 21 sano oo xukun militeri ah oo kalitalisnimo ku dhisnaa. Waxay ku doodeen in loo baahan yahay hoggaan rayid ah oo dalka hogaamiya.
Maxamed Faarax Jiis ayaa la sheegay inuu yiri: “Labo nin oo aan sami nahay, si fiican aan u aqaan oo uu ula jeeday Jeneraal Maxamed Faarax Ceydiid iyo lataliyihiisii Maxamed Faarax Jimcaale inuu garanayo sida ay u fekeraan. Haddii aan si degdeg ah wax loo qaban, wuxuu yiri waxay qaadi doonaan tallaabo .” Sidaas darteed, wuxuu ku adkeeyay garabkii Muqdisho ee Maanufeesti in Ceydiid lagala hormaro dhismaha dowlad rayid ah.
Ugu dambeyn, Cali Mahdi Maxamed wuxuu sheegay in dadaalkii ugu weynaa ee arrintaas lagu gaaray uu lahaa Maxamed Faarax Jiis, taasoo horseeday in la go’aamiyo in si degdeg ah loo magacaabo madaxweyne KMG ah. Waxaa la isku raacay in la isugu yeero Golaha Dhexe ee USC ee Muqdisho, oo uu hoggaaminayay Dr. Bood, si halkaas loogu ansixiyo magacaabista madaxweynaha KMG ah. Jeneraal Ceydiid arinkaa wey u cuntami weysay.
Nicholas Haysom, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative for South Sudan, has passed away in New York at the age of 73. His death marks a significant loss to international diplomacy, particularly in the fields of peacebuilding and post-conflict state reconstruction.
Nicholas Kay Haysom was widely regarded as one of the most experienced and influential diplomats within the United Nations system—a man who dedicated his life to the pursuit of peace, institution-building, and justice grounded in the rule of law. A native of South Africa, his impact extended far beyond his homeland, reaching some of the world’s most fragile and conflict-affected regions, where he became a voice for dialogue, stability, and hope. He also served as an advisor to South Africa’s first democratic president, Nelson Mandela, during a critical period of national transition.
Haysom began his professional journey as a lawyer and played a direct role in the legal and political struggle to dismantle apartheid. He was among the key figures involved in drafting South Africa’s new constitution—widely regarded as one of the most progressive in the world, reflecting principles of equality, justice, and inclusive governance. This work established his reputation as a constitutional expert with a deep understanding of how legal frameworks can underpin lasting peace.
During his tenure with the United Nations, Haysom became a central figure in peace efforts across multiple regions. He served in Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, and South Sudan, leading complex missions in politically sensitive and high-risk environments. He was known for his calm, measured diplomatic style—one that emphasized listening, building trust, and fostering dialogue among competing actors.
In Somalia, where he served from 2018 to 2019 as head of UNSOM, Haysom contributed to efforts aimed at strengthening governance, advancing institutional reforms, and supporting the federal system. However, his tenure ended in controversy following tensions with the Federal Government of Somalia over the arrest of Mukhtar Robow in Baidoa, at a time when Robow was a candidate for the South West regional leadership. The Somali government subsequently declared him persona non grata.
Despite such challenges, Nicholas Haysom leaves behind a distinguished legacy of service, marked by his commitment to peace, good governance, and the principles of justice. He will be remembered not only for the positions he held, but for the values he embodied—integrity, impartiality, and an unwavering belief that even in the most difficult circumstances, peace is possible through dialogue and principled leadership.
President @HassanSMohamud met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on the sidelines of the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union Heads of State and Government Assembly in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The two leaders held bilateral talks focused on strengthening diplomatic relations, enhancing cooperation in peace and security, and expanding collaboration in trade and development. They also exchanged views on regional stability and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing African unity and collective progress through the African Union framework.
His Excellency @SalahJama and @KhadraDuale, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Ambassador respectively, have represented Somalia in the most appropriate and dignified manner. They enjoy the full confidence of both the Somali people and its Government, therefore the naked propaganda aimed at distorting or concealing the truth will not work at all .”
@SalahJama and @KhadraDuale, thank you for the tireless dedication and hard work you’ve given and continue to give to your fatherland. When our objectives are fully achieved, your service will be duly honored 🎖️
Welcome back as hero's
Al-Rahma School in Buulaburte District, Hiiraan province , is a symbol demonstrating the power of self-reliance (Isku-tashi). This school is the result of firm determination, sustained effort, and community cooperation led by Madam. Jamila Uul.
She is a member of the Diaspora who aspired to ignite a beacon of hope for the children of her hometown, receiving full support and solidarity from fellow Diaspora members.
It is noteworthy that this project was realized solely through the power of the community. No government or international agency assisted or donated even a single brick.
Currently, the school provides quality education services, benefiting over 500 students who have gained vitality and hope. The majority of these students are orphans or come from low-income families unable to afford tuition fees. Consequently, the school has fulfilled a critical need within the community.
The Next Goal: The current plan is to secure a water well for the school. The students are in dire need of clean water for drinking, hygiene, and sanitation purposes.
Participate and be among those supporting this ongoing charitable work. Remember, as the proverb says: "When ants unite, they can carry heavy loads”
