Day one of the @MSHSAAOrg Class 5 State Track and Field Championships is a wrap.
Nixa captured 4️⃣ four state medals, including one state championship.
🥇 Jackson Cantwell is your 2024 Discus State Champion with a throw of 61.59m! This marks his second straight discus medal, as Cantwell finished runner-up a year ago.
🥉 Hayden Mays also won his second consecutive discus medal with a bronze finish of 56.91m.
4️⃣ In her first state meet, Eva Williams secured a state medal with a 4th place in the pole vault, clearing 3.63m.
6️⃣ The 4x800 team of Devon Kemp, Alex Flannery, Alex Worthley, and Aaron Ashley placed 6th with a time of 7:54.81 to crown a medal.

Heading into day two, the boys team is in a position to win a state trophy. The Eagles are currently in 2nd place with 19 points, one point behind leader Kirkwood. Behind Nixa is Rock Bridge (13) and Webb City (11). Four teams are tied for 5th with 10 points.
