My start date with the Clarion Ledger was on Oct. 1, 2023. My last day would be exactly three years later. I learned today that USA Today eliminated my position covering Mississippi HS sports. Calling it an honor would be an understatement. The people, players, coaches and fans welcomed me more than I can imagine. I sincerely thank you, Mississippi, for welcoming a young 22-year-old kid from New Mexico with open arms. All I wanted was a shot. The athletes across the state rank among the best in the country and rightfully deserve the coverage. Not sure what lies ahead, but I still want to give this a swing; you can reach me at [email protected].
