Her extensive diplomatic experience and distinguished record of service within the United Nations system uniquely position her to contribute meaningfully to strengthening the Organization’s role in the maintenance of international peace and security and the advancement of sustainable development. We look forward to the continued meaningful participation of qualified individuals from the Arab and Islamic world in advancing effective multilateral cooperation for the benefit of all peoples.

I held a telephone conversation today with H.E Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates. We discussed opportunities to further strengthen the bilateral relationship between Mauritania and the UAE and exchanged views on regional developments and international issues of mutual interest.

J’ai eu aujourd’hui un entretien téléphonique avec Son Excellence Cheikh Abdallah ben Zayed Al Nahyane, ministre des Affaires étrangères et de la Coopération internationale des Émirats arabes unis. Nous avons évoqué les moyens de renforcer davantage les relations bilatérales entre la Mauritanie et les Émirats arabes unis et avons échangé nos points de vue sur les développements régionaux ainsi que sur les questions internationales d’intérêt commun.

أجريتُ اتصالاً هاتفياً مع أخي معالي الشيخ عبد الله بن زايد آل نهيان، وزير الخارجية والتعاون الدولي بدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة الشقيقة، جرى خلاله بحث سبل تعزيز العلاقات الثنائية بين بلدينا وتطويرها في مختلف المجالات، كما تبادلنا وجهات النظر حول عدد من القضايا الإقليمية والدولية ذات الاهتمام المشترك.

On Thursday, I had the pleasure of opening a workshop at the Diplomatic Academy to present the outcomes of the Resilience and Community Development Project in the Senegal River Valley. The occasion underscored the strategic importance of agriculture to food security and highlighted the valuable contributions of Spain and the World Bank to Mauritania’s development efforts .

تشرفت يوم الخميس في مباني الأكاديمية الدبلوماسية بالإشراف على افتتاح ورشة عرض نتائج مشروع الصمود والتنمية المجتمعية لضفة نهر السينغال. وهي سانحة لتأكيد أهمية الاستراتيجية الوطنية التي تضع الزراعة في أولوية الاهتمامات لما لها من دور محوري في تعزيز الأمن الغذائي. كما أنها مناسبة لتثمين جهود المملكة الاسبانية والبنك الدولي ودعمهم المتواصل لمسيرة التنمية.

Today, I received H.E. Pietro Mona, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation, at the Ministry. We discussed bilateral cooperation between Mauritania and Switzerland and explored ways to strengthen and expand our partnership in pursuit of our shared interests.

استقبلتُ اليوم بمقر الوزارة سعادة السيد بيترو مونا، سفير الاتحاد السويسري المعتمد لدى بلادنا. وقد شكّل اللقاء مناسبة لاستعراض علاقات التعاون بين موريتانيا والاتحاد السويسري، وبحث السبل الكفيلة بتعزيزها وتطويرها بما يخدم المصالح المشتركة للبلدين.

Today, I met with H.E. Ahmed Mohamed Abdel Hamid Taya, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and Mr. Abdelhamid Bouchra Ibrahim Othman, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Our meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the outcomes of the El Alamein Quadrilateral Consultative Summit, held in Egypt on October 4.

J’ai reçu aujourd’hui, au siège du Ministère, S.E. M. Ahmed Mohamed Abdel Hamid Taya, ambassadeur de la République arabe d’Égypte, et M. Abdelhamid Bouchra Ibrahim Othman, chargé d’affaires de l’ambassade de la République du Soudan. Notre rencontre a été l’occasion d’évoquer les conclusions du Sommet consultatif quadripartite d’El-Alamein, tenu en Égypte le 4 octobre courant.
