Joe Viera, chef du Service d’hygiène et salubrité, par exemple, était attentif au revêtement de sol de la salle de bain. « Plus le revêtement est rugueux, plus il est difficile à nettoyer. Trop lisse, il devient glissant. Il faut trouver le bon équilibre », explique-t-il. Vivian Papazian et Samantha Fernie, ergothérapeutes, scrutaient d'autres aspects souvent négligés. « Je me mets à la place d’une personne âgée et je me demande : les boutons des stores sont-ils adaptés à quelqu’un ayant une motricité fine limitée ? Samantha et moi vérifions aussi la hauteur des meubles et du lavabo », partage Vivian. Housekeeping Section Manager Joe Viera, for example, paid close attention to the bathroom flooring. "The rougher the flooring, the harder it is to clean. Too smooth, and it becomes slippery. You have to find the right balance," he explains. Vivian Papazian and Samantha Fernie, occupational therapists, examined other aspects that are often overlooked. "I put myself in the shoes of an elderly person and ask: Are the buttons on the window blinds suitable for someone with limited fine motor skills?
