since auto insurance is mandatory to buy and customers are unlikely to do strict quality comparisons, advertising is incredibly important and solely dedicated to getting people to remember the name of the company
it's important to reject the belief that mass behavior can be understood. it cannot. for example, liberty mutual ran "Limu Emu and Doug" commercials for 7 years bc analyses presumably showed that there exists a significant number of people who bought LiMu insurance *on the basis of that ad campaign.* and that's not something that anybody will ever be able to explain

It was a program in mass fascitization that was remarkably successful. It vanished because you don’t need to prime people for the Day of the Rope with lurid tales of HRC eating babies once they’ve become excited by really throwing tens of thousands of people & children into camps
It’d be hard to describe to someone who wasn’t tapped in just how ubiquitous QAnon was < 10 years ago given that it has basically disappeared. Maybe this was a flashlight under your chin media invention, but it appeared just a stone’s throw away from ALL right-of-GOP-center stuff

Obama and Democrats are a bunch of out-of-touch elitists for mocking the Cheesecake Factory. Mocking the Cheesecake Factory is a strange way to connect with everyday Americans. Obama has clearly spent too much time enjoying the luxuries of Martha’s Vineyard to relate.

20% of content on the mid-00s internet was about how the prequels suck—pretty much the entire critical conversation leading into Ep III was speculating if Lucas could salvage the trilogy at all—but the way people get on here and lie about this is always funny.
As an older millennial that was a teenager for these movies, I do not remember anybody saying the prequels sucked at the time. That was social media revisionism by nerdy edgelords on social media 10 years later. Episode I is a masterpiece (and Empire is still my favorite)

This makes sense when you realize that Acton's estranged mother represents a major demographic cohort -- parents who covered up horrific family secrets and are puzzled why their kids don't talk to them. This cohort is becoming politically organized.
#OhioGovernor Axios: Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign says the ad with Acton’s estranged mother will begin streaming tonight, and will be airing statewide in Ohio.

People say that everyone thinks SNL was best from when they were a kid, but my theory is that there were three objectively great eras and little else that’s good: the first couple years, 88 - 95, and this period. But everyone who likes SNL was a kid during one of those times.
just remembered that we used to have this insane cast lineup during S31 of SNL

I have to say, I know a lot of people think we should stop engaging this account, but I kind of love watching this person try to do this bit and just accidentally reveal over and over that they have the literacy of a high schooler.
These two passages depict the same subject matter in an identical style. One is from Fifty Shades of Grey. The other is from Sally Rooney’s Normal People. I bet you can't even tell which is which. If we have the sensibility to dismiss one as a trashy romance novel, then why do we continue to celebrate the other as serious literature?

Chuck Schumer has yet to say a word in defense of Omar.
Me and Ilhan Omar are far apart policy wise. I’m pro life, she’s pro abortion. I’m pro 2A, she’s pro gun control. And on and on. But can someone tell me how pretending to get ready to deport Ilhan Omar is going to bring gas down under $2, make health insurance freaking affordable, make a family’s weekly grocery bill make sense, and stop sending our beloved military off to fight for another fucking foreign war??? People are so sick and tired of the bullshit. When you dumb mf’ers at the WH actually release the Epstein files and lock up the pedophiles and rapists you all hang out with, then we will start paying attention. Until then 🖕.

We are in Waco, TX. Last year we watched a documentary about the siege that happened here in 1993, so we said we have to visit the site. We drove expecting a memorial site, but to our surprise the Branch Dividians are still active here. We even met a member who told us their perspective about what happened.

"Millennial cringe" is when books for children are silly and definitely not when people go to the mat defending American Idol alums in their social media beefs.
Just learned the 15k bird toy store owner is also the author of “Dragons Love Tacos” and everything clicked into place for me, I sank through the earth’s crust to the bubbling lava core of loathesome millennial cringe bullshit and it whispered my name. Woke up drenched in sweat

I think "reading a book is performative" is the end point of American anti-intellectualism. The mere act of reading is now suspicious to swaths of slug people.
