Once the UCP in Alberta gerrymanders a district like this, there’s no going back. The precedent is set and the cycle begins.
Democracy in the province will rot even faster than it’s rotting now.
Draw the battle lines and dig in for a fight, because this one matters.

This miserable, incompetent little prick has decided to characterize protests in France as orchestrated by the "far left".
So now we know what Quebec has for a Premier - a separatist, puffed-up right-wing nut job.
Surprised he hasn't started quoting scripture.

The result of permitting broke oil companies to take over the assets of other broke oil companies?
Bottom line: when landowners and oil companies call for review of Alberta Energy Regulator practices it might just be time for that review Alberta. 🤔

The NDP won just ONE election, interrupting decades of uninterrupted Conservative rule, and it spooked them so bad that they welcomed traitors, terrorists, and extremists under their banner
Now they're fixing elections
Those are all things that happen in one-party dictatorships

In 2018, before becoming Premier, Danielle Smith wrote that Alberta should fully fund independent schools and “phase out every government-run, union-controlled public school more interested in indoctrinating students than teaching them critical-thinking skills.”
That is not a passing remark. It is a clear statement of preference: public schools are framed as the problem to be dismantled, while independent and private options are the solution to be expanded with public money.
Public schools are the ones legally required to accept every student. They educate the full range of kids—those with high needs, complex learning profiles, behavioural challenges, and limited family resources—without the ability to select or turn them away. When a Premier has publicly advocated phasing those schools out in favor of selective alternatives, it is reasonable to ask how much weight we should give to subsequent claims that public education remains a priority.
Policy follows from priorities. If the starting point is that the public system should be phased out, the direction of funding, choice expansions, and resource shifts becomes easier to understand—and harder to reconcile with the idea that every child in the province is equally worth supporting.

All provinces rely on independent boundary commissions to draw electoral maps. Smith rejected the boundary commission map and asked her MLAs to draw a pro-UCP map.
This is unprecedented. It's brazen US-style gerrymandering. It's cheating.
The NDP claims the UCP is aiming to use its legislative majority to gerrymander the new boundaries, in order to give themselves an unfair advantage in the 2027 provincial election.

The UCP drew a map. They couldn't get it past an independent boundaries commission, who recommended a different one after public input.
The UCP tore up that map and is imposing their own, without public consultation.
They want you to believe this is normal. It's not.
