I just want to thank you Madsters for the kindness & support you've shown me throughout the years here. Even when I doubt myself, you remind me to hang in there. After this last year of battling cancer, having to get a new laptop, etc. I won't lie I'm tired. You keep me going.

There is a profound medicine in the shadows. Sadness is not a weakness; it is the earth resting, gathering its strength in the quiet dark before a new season begins.

love is pathetically stupid and somehow still the most important thing in the world. it makes you overthink a text, memorize the smallest details, miss someone while they’re still right beside you, and do things you swore you’d never do. it can break your heart and still make you believe in something beautiful again. you can pretend you don’t need it, act like you’re above it, and swear you’ll never fall that hard again, but deep down, you still want someone to come home to.

What's in a flower,
that cannot be seen anywhere?
The power to hold your attention,
even when your world is falling apart.
Have a wonderful start to the week.

One of the lovely things about getting older is (or should be) that you develop strange and eclectic tastes. Over time you encounter a lot of obscure books and old films and it makes you into a sort of wizard. But too many people lack the curiosity ever to explore new things.

The language of a rotten soul
still speaks in flowers.
Dreams stitched
with bone-thread.
The blood remembers
what the mind cannot.
Moonlight spilling like
spoiled milk.
Soft-hearted
and exposed.
Bleeding gentleness
like wine.
That's the flaw.
The flaw nobody
sees coming.
A wild creature begging
for a place to lie down somewhere,
wishing the world would be
gentle with her, though deep down
she knows that prayer will
never be answered.
So she lies down on the cold
soil of the forest... letting the
silence cover her... letting the
darkness keep her company.
Letting her body finally
release its grip on itself.
