In one day, two politicians - Bolsonaro in Brazil and Vucic in Serbia - with ties to Trump and his family have lost surprise elections, thanks to high turnout. The rise of the international far-right is not inevitable.

But he insists the British public must have the final say, ruling out a move to rejoin the EU during this Parliament.

NEW: The next EU and UK summit will take place on 20 November in Brussels, ending months of uncertainty about the event.
The two sides hope to sign three agreements:
* a food-and-drink deal to ease Brexit red tape
* a pact linking the EU and UK's emissions-trading systems, so avoiding European carbon taxes on British businesses
* a youth mobility scheme, enabling under 30s to live, work, study and travel for a time-limited period on both sides of the channel.
EU officials have also said the summit would be an occasion to discuss the future of the relationship, while stressing the UK needs to define what it wants.
One of the Burnham government's top priorities is to ensure the UK is not disadvantaged by the bloc's ‘Made in Europe’ laws that could favour EU manufacturers in strategic sectors, such as renewable energy, nuclear and electric cars - @JenniferMerode reports

NEWS: Today I’m launching The Small Ideas Initiative. We want you to submit ideas at Small-Ideas.org for non-controversial fixes, e.g “live sewage updates for beaches” or “standardised allergen menus”.
A year ago, an interviewer asked what I’d have told the Government if I’d been advising it, I replied, 'Come up with 100 small things that piss people off and fix one a day for the first 100 days'. As I left the stage, I emailed myself, 'set up Small ideas institute!'
And today, I’m excited it's happening. I’m funding two charities to work together to collate the submissions, narrow them down to about 200 doables then turn those into formal policy proposals which I'll bring back to you for feedback.
Then to finish we've a Cross-Party panel who’ve agreed to pick 50ish, after which we’ll start trying to make them happen. You can read far more about it and who the cross party panel are here… blog.moneysavingexpert.com/2…

Here's how I'll explain it to my grandma

"Brexit has caused more harm than good."
PM Andy Burnham says rejoining the EU is among 'different options' he will look at to reshape the UK's long-term relationship with Europe.

Breaking: Burnham announces he will set out what the "different options are for Britain’s long-term relationship with our European partners" later this year.
"We will not give Britain the clear path we need into the rest of this century until we decide on a long-term relationship with what is still our largest market...
"Brexit has done more harm than good...
"We need to restore a higher level of growth and prosperity for Britain," the PM says.
